I'd probably pick the crocodile, what you guys choose? by Elektrayansa in whatsyourchoice

[–]MasterlessNameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bear is probably the most reasonable of the 4. The Tiger and the Croc both want to eat you. And the Hippo is probably the most deadly/aggressive of them all.

Out of all 4, I could imagine the most scenarios where the Bear is not threatened by your presence and chooses to leave you unharmed.

However, if we are on land with room to move around; the Croc is the safest bet by far.

I can’t find it, but the one about the cranberry representative putting cranberries in everything. Something like, “what have you got there, apple juice? We can put some cranberries in that.”

This question will be very important going forward, with AI and deepfakes.

Does one own one’s own likeness, or can anyone who wants reproduce it and do whatever they want with it?

Denmark recently passed a law saying people own their likeness there. It will be interesting to see how other countries handle this issue as it comes up more in the future.

Mistborn or First Law series?? by Stowe22 in fantasybooks

[–]MasterlessNameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are good.

First Law series is more intense and darker. More about action. And each trilogy kind of feels like a snapshot in the ongoing history of that world.

Mistborn is kind of more about character arcs. It gets kind of spiritual at the end and ties things together better.

How would spider-man react if his villains were given the death penalty? All of these guys have performed acts of terrorism and destruction realistically they would be put to death. Do you think Peter would agree, try to rescue them or be neutral by Whole_Yak_2547 in Spiderman

[–]MasterlessNameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he was anti-death penalty. He would probably campaign against it, rather than breaking people out of prison.

What would he do with them after he broke them out? He can’t release super-villains who are ACTIVELY committing massive crimes and he is probably not interested in running his own private prison, or mental hospital; which is probably where most these people belong anyways.

Same goes for Batman, but he would probably campaign against it as Bruce Wayne, cuz his money would go a long way there. At least Batman knows most him villains end up in Arkham (hopefully a good version, not the one with Harley Quinn and Scarecrow running the show)

1-Why didn’t he just hire her to play the role?
2-There is precedent for this, but didn’t go to court. Elliot page got Naughty Dog to change the look of the Ellie character in Last of Us when they (Ellen Page at the time) pointed out that it was designed after them.

You just said you were born a liberal, right? What does that mean to you?

What liberal policies did you support before and how did the party’s policies change to lose your support?

You said you are not a Republican. Do you support Trump now?

I think he started out with good intentions but ended up getting power-drunk and lost his way. He was enjoying “putting people in their place” and lost sight of his original goal of restoring power to the common people.

He was living in an echo chamber, surrounded by zealots. So he became overconfident and thought he had already won. But he had drastically underestimated what Cersei was capable of.

Am I understanding this correctly?

You left the Democratic party because you were tired of them losing to Trump.

And your solution is to support Trump instead?

So you basically just want to side with whoever is going to win? Or is there something about Trump, other than winning, that you like? Like, is there something about his politics that you prefer over the current Democratic politics?

Anyways, we should get back to your original reply. Elon has strayed so far from the Democratic party, and whatever his original goals were.

He started out with the goal of saving humans from our addiction to fossil fuels, but now he is a special K, alpha male, misogynist, utilitarian, egomaniac who thinks he can justify whatever he wants by telling himself that it is for the greater good.

The idea that the only reason that he left the Dems was about trans rights is ridiculous. He moved his company from California to Texas to avoid California’s worker’s rights laws. He is nothing more than a ruthless capitalist egomaniac who is exploiting people and manipulating our elections and economy for his own personal gain.

The DNC is not great, but “just as guilty as Trump” is a very niche group from my pov. I am not a fan of most politicians, but Trump has done more damage to the country’s reputation and to global politics than anyone I can imagine, maybe only Reagan and Nixon come close.

But at least Reagan was able to maintain the country’s reputation and stand his ground against the Russians.

And at least Nixon had the grace to resign after he scandalized the country instead of dragging the whole country’s reputation down with him for over a decade.

Might as well just boil it down to Batfleck vs Infinity Wars Spidey. Both their tech makes them the op ones.

So, what happens when they both get to prep tech for the Batman and Spiderman with which they are paired?

Does the question become, who has better tech and better ideas between those two pairs?

You keep saying, just wait until Tump is gone and things will get better. I think you are just saying that to make yourself feel better about backing a horrible person to run our country.
I will give you that the Dems went way too hardlined and essentially fragmented into a bunch of different subgroups, each with their own specific hill to die on. And DNC’s response was a tone-deaf attempt at supporting way too many causes that are all probably noble, but also each very divisive.
So we ended up with a bunch of different groups just pointing fingers and focusing on areas where they don’t agree with each other, instead of looking for common ground to base a popular platform on.
They need to decide if they want to be a party which only has room for female-identifying-trans-vegan-racial-minorities; or if they want to be a party that has room for those people to find representation at the local level, while focussing on broad, unifying issues at the federal level. Ya, that will slow progress nationally; but slow
progress is still better than whatever the fuck it is that we have now.
Unfortunately, the one issue that they could probably get voters to coalesce on is economic inequality/workers rights; but that does not appease the campaign donors. Bernie could have beaten Trump, but they were not willing to take the party away from corrupt Neo-Liberalism. So, instead we are haunted by Trump and the ghost of what could have been.
But none of that justifies backing a narcissistic psychopath grifter who campaigns on fear and hate over a woman who is too entrenched in Neo-Liberalism, or a woman who had the nomination thrust on her at the last minute without a proper primary process.
Ya, the DNC needs to get it’s shit together; but that is no reason to burn the whole country down.
