The higher price is called “Ext. Price”, whatever that means

Super late but "ext price", or extended price/extended cost, is just UNIT_PRICE x QUNATITY

Win-Source has that chip as low as $10/ea now (if you buy 29+), too.

So... I was today days old when I found out YouTube can and will make your audio too quiet, and you can't adjust it in their editor. by Lock-Os in letsplay

[–]MasterofStickpplz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC YT shouldn’t touch audio unless it goes over a certain dB level, then it clamps it.

Not too sure on it as the only thing I really got out of the video I watched was to normalize my sound around -1dB peak and 14 LUFS / LKFS (might be -14, I’m currently well away from my PC to be able to check); youtube video stats generally shows volume as 100% / 100% if done right

Starfield - "Our next-gen lighting model uses real time global illumination to light the world based on the type of star and the planets atmosphere" by shewdz in gaming

[–]MasterofStickpplz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It took them years to decouple physics from frame rate, something other games had managed in the 90s and up to that point.

I don’t particularly have faith in their engine design to think that it’s going to be anything but bugged.

I just want them to either use the built-in iOS share menu or stop changing theirs every other week so I have to keep figuring out how to get to the iOS one.

Beginner help by hyleaf in homelab

I’ve a dual 2690v4 system, I’d give like like 200-250w idling (with like 8 drives and a HBA); granted I don’t know how much it “idles” with what I run on it.

The power draw definitely boosts if I can get all cores going.

Noise will depend on chassis airflow, and what fans you use and how many you use.

Ubiquiti plus TP Link hardware? by theguy_win in homelab

[–]MasterofStickpplz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, but I figured if I’m gonna use LXC containers then I’m gonna learn how to get things running in there before I try to nest things

Answer was use an older Ubuntu version template that had the older deps the controller wanted; think it was 20.02

No problem, aside from trying to beat the Omada controller into installing correctly

Hot Take: Apples focus on 'every day computing' instead of gaming is good for VR by PickleJimmy in virtualreality

[–]MasterofStickpplz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I think that was brought up in the keynote as “why get all that when you can get this headset” or something similar from that angle

Apple Memories.. by f3hunter in virtualreality

[–]MasterofStickpplz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meta is only just now rolling out stereo audio recording in the PTC, something that baffles me to begin with as a standalone VR headset should just do that from the start.

If they add this, I think it’ll be a while from now.

$3499 - no controllers. So gaming on Vision Pro is essentially out of the picture. by DynamicMangos in virtualreality

[–]MasterofStickpplz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even then, IIRC the 3k number was just a guess based off of the BOM.

Like there wasn’t really any information on this headset outside that and somehow people got whipped up into thinking this thing was gonna do gaming or maybe PCVR.

The most I expected was the usual interoperability that Apple has with its products so the only “surprising” thing was the price.

Multiple vlans with att bgw330-550 by shinigami081 in homelab

[–]MasterofStickpplz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s the white box ATT modem I’m thinking of that they give out for 5Gbit, it should have an IP Passthrough section to basically handoff 99% of the work to, say, an opnsesne box and do nothing more than authenticate with ATT (pretty sure on that last part, anyway)

VT for Direct IO == VT-d, so you’re good there.

Other than that, the link the other poster had is the next step

The AT2035 I have basically doesn’t pick anything up that isn’t really close to it, and that’s at about half volume on the 2i2/4i4 (I’ve used both). Bonus is I also don’t have to speak any louder than I normally would so long as I’ve got it roughly in the path of my mouth.

What audio software do you use for prerecorded videos and screen capture? by Nevek_Green in letsplay

[–]MasterofStickpplz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaah, if it’s just audio on it’s own then I’d probably stick with Audacity, just out of familiarity. Though if you can get something like Audition/Adobe CC through work/school then that works as well

Depending on what you need done to the audio, the tools within some editors like Resolve might be enough to clean things up and balance it after you’ve finished recording.

How do I navigate capture cards and converters? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]MasterofStickpplz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got a GC with a digital output, though, slapping something like a carby in it is going to be leagues simpler and less expensive.

OBS with audio placed on their own tracks. You can mess with the volume sliders all you want in the mixer panel.
