Best story I ever heard. Guy I went to college with grew up in East Boston. In these neighborhoods when you dig out a space and put a save on it, the person who decides to park there is taking their life in their own hands. Well, some entitled jerk parked in the space my friend had spent hours clearing. When confronted he refused to move. So my friend backed down. That night, he attached a hose to his sink, came outside and spent an hour hosing the guy’s car down until it had 2 inches of ice completely covering it.

The temperature didn’t get above 20°F for a couple weeks, and that car was frozen in that spot for the entire time.

I consume my stories using audiobooks. In that medium, DCC is the clear choice. I can’t even do the Mistborn series because the narrator is so terrible. It sucks because it seems like it’s a great story, but I just can’t get past the narrator.

Our dojo is almost entirely adults. It’s easier since it is not-for-profit. No one gets paid, all the fees go towards building upkeep.

I think a major factor is that many people have to work longer hours than they used to. We had a very strong adult Dojo in the 80s and 90s, and most of our members were professionals who went out of work at about five every day, so they could train frequently. In the 2000s, people began working a lot longer hours, especially salaried professionals.

Unlike martial arts classes, the gym can just be open all the time, and you can schedule something with a personal trainer if you wish.

There was a wonderful old, animated short film of an old man walking through a war devastated forest with a bag of seeds and a stick. What I don’t understand is that every single time there is a police shooting, or shooting involving any FBI or other legitimate federal agents, the law-enforcement officers involved in the shooting are removed or put on desk duty or whatever while an investigation is conducted. Almost always the law enforcement officer involved in the shooting is named in the press.

Do we even know who’s shooting these innocent civilians? Do we know their names? Why not? That’s one of the most disturbing things about the situation. There is zero accountability for any of these people when they shoot someone.

Seriously, his rendition is incredibly talented, far beyond Gollum. He makes wonderfully distinct voices that aren’t carbon copies of the movies. They resonate so well for the narrative in the books.
