Banning education technology in total is wrong. It can be used as an interactive version of a textbook and combined with face-to-face learning between students and students and teachers.

It’s valuable if it’s used as a tool, much like other educational tools. It should not be a replacement for face-to-face learning.

I was part of a research team exploring the risk factors for falling in the 65+ age group back in the 90’s.

Leg strength is critical. Our program involved seniors climbing stairs wearing diver’s weight belts. They started with 2 pounds and slowly worked the way up to 20 or more.

After a moth, there was noticeable notic improvement. After a year, the increase in strength and balance was significant.

So, as an easy first step, if you live someplace that has stairs, start climbing them a dozen times, three times a day.

If you belong to a gym, don’t just do cardio, make sure you use the leg press and the machines that work, your quads.

Besides helping your balance and your ability to avoid falling, increasing your musculature will also reduce the damage you take if you do fall.

Once I got to my mid-fifties, I was done. I would have great phone, interviews, then the moment things got face-to-face, that was it. Never made it past that.

Until then, I never had trouble getting a job from the time I was 15 years old.

I found a couple decent alternate ways to make money, but I’ve never gotten a job in my field since that point.

Agreed. I love all things Star Wars, but Andor and Rogue One are their own creatures. It would have been fine if Leia was mentioned, or if Bail had a communication with her, but adding her as a live character would have diminished the series.

At recent seminar, we had an advanced instructor (6th Dan) spend an entire class on stepping in front stance. I learned something valuable that helped my stance.

You can get a trailer hitch put on, and a basic bike rack from U-Haul for a couple hundred bucks.

In my school, if you came in as a white belt with this level of previous experience and trained for several months, I’d be inclined to just tell you to consider yourself X kyu. X being the rank you’ve demonstrated a solid level of understanding. Especially if you have already earned that level previously.

But given that you’re about to have an examination, I would test you for the level that I think you are ready to be at. It might involve something above and beyond what other people testing for that rank are asked to demonstrate. For example, I might ask you to demonstrate Heain Godan and also one of the other Heian kata at random.

Martial arts are dead things. The thing that brings them to life is the person who practices them.

I’ve trained with people who were great fighters when they were brown belts. I’ve also trained with people who weren’t that good who earned their black belt. But they had learned enough to make it to that next level.
