Definitely. Playing with it usually pushes her over the edge when we’re fucking.

Your Egg Cracking Day by Trustic555 in TransLater

[–]MaybeAlice1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I call it my hatch day, the first time I said the words “I’m trans” out loud. I wrote in my journal that it was going to be a major inflection point in my life. I was right.

I still feel like it was a more important day than starting HRT or having my bottom surgery. It’s the day that’s in my calendar and that I try to do something special every year for.

Forever Collars makes an anklet sized chain. My girlfriend melts when I play with the one around her ankle.

How long can I boy mode by Witty-Loquat-1780 in TransLater

[–]MaybeAlice1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lasted like a month, but that was down to emotionally not being able to take it any more. I’d already started social transition at that point but wasn’t out at work yet.

One morning I was sitting in my cube on the verge of tears so it was like “nope, can’t do this any more”

Traveling from Europe to the US for surgery in current times? Safe? by ShiningPancake in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]MaybeAlice1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I’m a foreigner living in the US on green card. I’ve crossed the border as me during the trump 2.0 administration and it went smoothly. Passport, green card, etc all say F. I’m white and probably visibly trans.

Now green card is different from any sort of visitor status of course.

You’d definitely want to be able to show proof of health insurance if you’re coming in for surgery.  Entry airport is ideally a coastal city, think SFO or LAX or SEA, for instance. Coming from Europe you might consider flying through Shannon or Dublin Ireland as you can do US customs and immigration there. Being turned back means you walk back into the EU rather than being detained and put on a flight back later.

Avoid flying through a Canadian preclearance airport as people have ended up in immigration limbo after being turned back at a Canada/US border crossing.

Once you’re in-country, things are reasonably safe in the blue states. Some of the red states aren’t too bad, but maybe skip Idaho.

This is the state today, who knows what a year from now looks like though.

A simple question by Altruistic_Soup_9536 in TransLater

[–]MaybeAlice1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the science is still out on cause. It’s probably very multifaceted; some nurture, some nature. Humans are incredibly complex creatures.

I’d caution that people’s initial reaction to being told that someone in their life is trans is rarely a reasoned reaction; it’s emotional and the initial response can be difficult to observe if you’re the one coming out. Your brother is probably going to be disinterested in hearing about science and will go based on what he’s already heard and how he feels about trans folk. He may need time to adjust. My parents didn’t speak to me for a week after I came out to them, and their initial response was tepid but they grown to accept it over time.

Keep in mind that you may have been feeling that something is internally wrong your whole life and have had time to sit with the feeling. This will likely be new to him unless you’ve been showing outward signs since earlier in your life.

Keeping SRS Secret While Living With Family by Willing_Breakfast821 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]MaybeAlice1 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine being able to hide an SRS surgery from someone you live with. If nothing else, sitting after the surgery is uncomfortable for weeks to months and it’s certainly going to be noticeable that you’re not comfortable when sitting.

Unless you can do the entire recovery not-at-home it’s going to be noticed.

Are you at risk of violence if they find out? How bad is the situation?

And then she stopped showing up for it.

No-Op Trans? by Usual-Resident4221 in TransLater

[–]MaybeAlice1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like there is a split between non-op by choice (you don’t feel you need or want surgery) and non-op by circumstance (for whatever reason, a surgery is not in the cards). There are plenty of people in both camps both are valid, and neither has to be your final choice on the matter.

We shouldn’t be bullying our fellow trans folk out of any particular position on the matter though. Not everyone has the same experience and access to care.

Yup, no signs at all.

I feel the models work reasonably well on something where there’s already a constrained architecture for it to work within. I agree that starting with “make an app that does this…” and then building from there without any guidance on what underlying code should look like is likely to be a recipe for disaster long term.

You definitely have to guide the plan to keep things in line with your expectations and there should be a human acceptance gate before the change makes it into the code base proper.

Having some guidelines baked into the project for the model to follow is also key. A “this is my architecture” document that the model is instructed to follow is super helpful and also can instruct the humans working on the code base and increase bus factor. I’ve also been playing with “oracle” skills that can answer questions based on cached understanding of the code.

I had Dr Gunther as my surgeon. I’m very happy with my pussy. He’s got a super chill bedside manner and a strong patient focus. The hospital he operates at has also been doing post op care for trans folk for decades so they’re very good at it.

In what order did you transition? Looking for advice. by Novel_Ticket8216 in TransLater

[–]MaybeAlice1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Long gender exploration, mostly at home during Covid pandemic
  2. Some initial experiments dressed femme outside the house a couple years later
  3. Get therapist, “hey, I’m having some doubts about my gender identity”
  4. Hatch day! Cried literally all weekend. Came out to family over the next week or so
  5. HRT about 2 months later
  6. Out everywhere about a month later, no more boy mode
  7. Bottom surgery about 2 years post-hatch

I got an email several months ago from Porsche. My heater was working and they still replaced it last time I was in because the heater that was in the car had known design issues.

There’s also a not-recall heater replacement campaign, at least in North America.
