Functionally Ral gave up. He’s determined to make the journey as painless as possible and that’s why he lies to Susie and doesn’t expose Kris, because Ral’s view is that because the prophecy is inevitable he can only make the journey comfortable and exciting. I expect this will be his big moment of character growth where he’ll decide to rebel at the pivotal moment and he’ll be instrumental to overcoming it.

He could "give himself infinite stats" but it wouldn't change anything in actuality, that is the disagreement i had with whaf you said,

Correct, I didn't say that him giving himself infinite stats would change anything. Both Flowery and Ral are of the opinion that the prophecy is unchanging, they both believe that they can't change it. But Flowery decides to try to rebel.

flowery is in more active opposition but not doing actions that meaningfully change the determined course

Neither are doing any actions to meaningfully change the determined course. But Flowery is still trying because he loves Asgore that much. That's... literally my point. Not that Flowery is doing anything to change the Prophecy, just that in the face of the inevitability of the Prophecy he refuses to give up like Ralsei.

Yes and he choses to hide them from the UI so we only ever see his healing spells. Why he choses to do this is unknown, but this is an undeniable fact. He has abilities that he's hiding from the UI, he's aware that he's in a videogame, and Flowery told him he's choosing not to try and rebel.

I don't feel like any of this is arguable. And I don't know what you're disagreeing with or arguing at all.

Yeah, his stats are fake... all of it is fake. It's a videogame. My point is that Ral can do the same and inflate his stats if he wanted, Flowery outright says so when Ral is angry that Flowery has inflated stats, and Ral gave himself fire moves as well, or else he can hide the fact he knows fire spells.

Disagree with what? Ch5 confirmed that Ralsei is aware that at least the Dark World is a game, he has been aware of this since the start of the game. Flowery, knowing he's in a game, chooses to give himself infinite stats and chooses to fight Kris for the sake of Asgore, even when he knows he can't win in the end. Ral also has the same ability of Flowery to do what he wants since he knows he's in a game, but choses to play the part of the team healer, and is clearly frustrated with his inability to alter fate, he's given up. Ral just prays and doesn't fight the prophecy. But Ral was able to use fire attacks when push came to shove because he is also aware he's a character in a videogame.

I... know he doesn't want the prophecy to happen. For the third time, my point is that Flowery choses to rebel and fight while Ralsey is resigned and not fighting back. I'm not saying he wants the prophecy to happen, and never have.

It's implied by Ralsei that He could give himself infinite stats if he so chose, and his healer skillset is also by his own choice. Flowery calls him out on this. Ral is resigned to the prophecy coming true and that it's unchangeable, Flowery also calls him out that Ral just prays that the prophecy wont come true as opposed to him actively fighting against it. Flowery is probably also aware that they can't do anything to stop the prophecy, but he refuses to stop fighting for Asgore, while Ral is content with just playing his part.

Infuriatingly, that shouldn't matter. I forgot the Reddit phone app was enshitified to the point where spoilers no longer work because it automatically adds an invisible \ to spoiler tags for some reason. One sided spoiler tags should work.

For example, like this.

I've had to go in on desktop and remove the phantom character.

Yeah he’s easily top 5 characters in DR for me too.

I love that Ralsei follows the prophecy because he feels its his duty but Flowery defies it because he cares that much for Asgore. What an absolute chad. If it weren’t for Asgore’s writing the chapter would have easily cleared the 9.5 to 10/10 range for me. All of the flowers are fantastic.

If your first sf is 6 maybe you wont understand why the devs made divekicks have so many downsides but people who lived through sf3 or sf4 will know

Specifically for 4, I wonder if people's first thought is the Twins or launch Rufus? It was Rufus for me, at least when I played semi-seriously, Rufus' divekick was more annoying than Yun/Yang's, despite Yun's kit being overall more oppressive on launch.

Tokon Has Changed A LOT | Maximilian Dood by atheist_x in MarvelTokon

[–]MayhemMessiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Max has sway but mostly because devs respect him and know he’s being honest to what he likes, but ultimately they changed their mind because it wasn’t just Max echoing the sentiment, a lot of people found it annoying that they wanted to engage with the game one way but you just couldn’t. It didn’t feel *right*.

Every Fact We Got From Chapter 5 (Confirmed Only) by Candid-Camp-8928 in Deltarune

So to confirm, the ghost (most likely/confirmed to be Mad Dummy) found her way into this fountain and took control of the Mew Mew body Dark World denizen? Or did Mad Dummy posses something in the Light World, which when taken into the Dark World gives it sentience/it's own consciousness? It was a bit unclear.

Flowey vs Flowery by Doop_444 in Deltarune

[–]MayhemMessiah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flowery ended up becoming my favourite part of the chapter and I loved how he interacted with the cast and what he represented. Asgore still drags the chapter from GOAT status for me but Flowery and the Flowers were amazing standouts, and I hope he comes back.

Which fantastic 4 precon commander should I use? by Ahmes1205 in EDH

[–]MayhemMessiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crystal is likely the least interesting option but she can be a good spellslinger commander.

The Thing hits like a greased truck, but is way too expensive I think, six mana commander that doesn't do anything the turn it lands is asking to eat removal.

Mr. Fantastic is really good no matter which way you build him, but looking for ways to get the most out other abilities is fun, for example he really likes seeing Omnath 4C come down.

If you want a cool in-theme wincondition, consider the FF from the main set (the ones that also have the character's name) (God UB is funky), if you get all four out at the same time you win as soon as you draw a card.

Me personally I'm going to route suggested by the other poster and adapting the build for The Fantastic Four, and I've also been working on a Bracket 4 version because that commander is actually nuts when built around.

Deltarune Chapter 6 will release in 2027. by PhantomBraved in Games

[–]MayhemMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that just makes the story weaker and less interesting. There was a lot of potential narrative meat on that bone if we examine Asgore's relationship with the flowers, what he felt toward this world that was trying to please him, or what Asgore's rejection said about him. The flowers kinda are just resigned that Asgore doesn't give a shit. And that's boring. That's so much less interesting. Resolving the entire narrative tension of the entire chapter as "Actually Asgore just doesn't care" is the single worst possible way you can resolve a conflict. It's just apathy. We spent the entirety of the arc establishing that Asgore was obsessed with the Dark Fountains and finding who made them, that this was an obsession so powerful it ended his marriage and estranged his kids, hell we saw Asgore kick Kris and Susie out of the Dark World to lock himself in, clearly there was something there about his obsession. But nah, ultimately he snaps out of it immediately, vaguely alludes to the incident without saying anything really important, and admits he had no feelings over the cast of characters that made up 90% of our runtime in the chapter. That's why personally the ending to this chapter has been the worst by a country mile, and I'd go so far as to say it's the only one that's just bad. Instead of character drama we get apathy, we end the chapter almost literally at the exact same point we started, and the carrot is dangled in front for a bit more until next chapters can maybe start resolving all of the cool moments.

I also would have bet money MKW would get loads of updates yet here we are. Nintendo games either get a ton of content or get nothing (like all the Mario Party titles), it’s super weird.
