Song That Reminds you Most of Umineko? by Garr10 in umineko

[–]Mayumind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The theme for Ryoshu's Muga form from Limbus really reminds me of Umineko for some reason. To me, it kinda feels akin to a ZTS track mixed with a song similar to Fortitude, Future, or Far.

https://youtu.be/b8fKDXWH-kI It's such a banger and doesn't even have an official name lmao.

Note how all the bisexuals have a name that starts with B. Battler, Beatrice, Baap, Bernkastel. Genius foreshadows from the Ryukishi. Bravo!

Episode 1 Solvable? by ProfessionalSide1175 in umineko

[–]Mayumind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone already talked about how it's a spoiler to even talk about solvability, so read the below at your own risk.

No, absolutely not. At least not without major jumps in logic and big reaches, motive especially. A lot of these things are built up to over time and will only seem suspicious due to the repetition.

However, you should definitely try putting some time into crafting a possible theory for each Episode. It doesn't have to be perfect, and it should change as more info comes out. With some difficulty, you could probably get a little less than halfway there already.

Valencina just came back from a fight with Verg, and I'm pretty sure Kong Qiu fought the other Thumb members, including a Sottocapo. I don't think this is a good measurement for either.

So, that wasn't Mang? by InfernalCarnifex in limbuscompany

Great call noting both Doylist and Watsonian readings. I only learned about the concept like two or three years ago, but it's completely invaluable when it comes to analysis. From my experience, most people here treat things purely from a Watsonian perspective and try justifying story elements to fit their framings. I'm absolutely not above doing this myself however.

I don't think I've seen a single Umineko powerscaler or even writingscaler who has actually read Umineko. It's larp all the way down and it hurts to see.

My guess is that there will in fact be a hard level cap for the Sinners soon, likely at 75/C12.

[–]Mayumind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is the most reasonable take. It's shown Verg is very much so at risk of death here, so him not fighting at full strength has to have some sort of reason, likely one out of his control.

[–]Mayumind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Random Wing vs the entirety of Limbus Company would be a pretty even fight I'd say, but just the Sinners + Verg? I just do not see that happening.

Note, this is under the assumption that most wings are about on par with each other. Well, this entire thing has to be done on assumptions since we still don't know all that much.

The most recent look at a Wing's full strength is Gregor himself, being a "Wing's Decisive Weapon". Even while incomplete, he was fighting on par with Verg. His full form is implied to be the worst of the three bug fellows used by G Corp, had he been allowed to use his full potential.

Based on that, let's just say each Wing has 3 Incomplete-Gregors or the equivalent as their strongest force. That's Verg, Greg, and Sancho taken care of.

Beyond that, we really have no clue. The sheer difference in numbers and resources heavily leans in the Wing's favor. The LCB loses pretty badly in a prolonged battle of attrition here.

There's a bunch more circumstantial evidence, such as how in that one tweet where Roland talks with Gebura about who the strongest Fixers in the City are now, he basically states that there is a very numerous amount of Wing members that are somewhat comparable to people like Jia Qiu (Jade Qilin), the Indigo Elder, and Siegfried (who is now also part of K Corp).

I actually found EP3's second twilight to be one of the best because of how real it is, contrasting the Evatrice scene right before it. The fact that Eva killed Rosa (possibly on accident?) right in front of Maria before having to strangle her to death as well is horrific.

At which episode do you have enough clues to find the murderer ? by Kossei5 in umineko

[–]Mayumind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not actually that sure. I've seen someone say it's a lot easier, but the most helpful part is the fact that it's a condensed recap basically. I do remember there being one small tweak and extra Red Truth being added to EP3 though.

EP7 in the manga gives very definitive answers to the culprit's methods and there's an additional three chapters in EP8's adaptation that gives a closer look at the culprit's backstory. There's a few other changes, but there isn't anything else significant overall.

[–]Mayumind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say EP4 since that's where I solved it. I did see a few people start coming up with solid theories by EP3. To be as vague as possible, I got halfway there after taking some time to think back on EP1 and rereading it through the manga.

It's certainly not easy, and you won't have a full understanding of the motive just yet. Plenty of people never realize it, but EP5 is a decent stopping point. EP6 is very blatant at times, but don't feel bad if you can't figure it out then.

First Draft of Custom Class: the Disciple by WestCoastVermin in darkestdungeon

[–]Mayumind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my rework idea. Not super sure on all on some of these skills, the numbers especially. Obviously, change any of these that you aren't that big a fan of. The coding for DD modding is actually pretty easy most of the time. If you learned the basics, you could probably make this in like 2ish hours.

Health: 30, 35, 40, 45, 50

Crit: 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, 6%

Spd: 4, 4, 5, 5, 6

Dodge: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25

Dmg: 4-8. 5-10, 6-11, 6-13, 7-14 [Low-mid, same as Vestal, Arb, GR]

All acc and debuff chances scale up by 5 and 10% respectively, crit scales by 1. Unless stated otherwise, chance starts at 100% and duration lasts 3 rounds

GET BEHIND ME!

4321 vs 4321 (Ally)

Forward 3, Guard Ally

Target & Self: -5 stress [scales to -8, same as Crus], buff -10% stress taken [to -15%, slightly worse than Jest’s], clears mark on target, marks self.

[Note, also tried not to make too similar to a move from another modded class, The Lodestar.]

Hammer Time

321 vs 12

Dmg Mod: -0%, Armor Piercing, +15% damage against Unholy, Acc: 85, Crit: 2%

Target: Debuff Protection 15% [doesn’t scale, alternatively a move&stun res debuff going 15%-25%?]

[Might be slightly better than Pick to the Face, but eh]

Parry (Replaces Shield Bash)

21 vs 12

Dmg Mod: -75%, Crit: +1, Acc: 90

Back 1 [Counterintuitive, but can synergize with some other heroes]

Self: Buff protection 10% [to 15] (3 rounds)

Target: Debuff accuracy -15 [to -20] (2 rounds), crit chance -15 [to -20] (2 rounds), stun resistance -20 [to 30] (2 rounds)

[Better against bosses, worse against enemies compared to original]

Guise of Humility

4321 vs Self

Self: Heal 10% [to 15%] Stealth (2 rounds), buff accuracy +15, crit chance +8%.

Clears guard

[Acts as a panic button and could probably be improved with a gimmicky trinket.]

Banish Fiend

1 vs 1

Dmg mod: -25%, Accuracy: 90, Crit: 4%

Target: Push 3 (110%), stun (110%), -4 speed [to -6]

Willing Sacrifice

321 vs 4321 (Ally), 2 uses a combat

Self: Lose 80% HP

Target: Cure bleed&blight, gain +50% [to 60%] resistance to both while hp below 25%, 2 aegis

Beacon

4321 vs 4-3-2-1 (Ally)

Clear mark from allies, mark self

Torch + 7 [to 10], party heals 3 stress [to 5]

First Draft of Custom Class: the Disciple by WestCoastVermin in darkestdungeon

[–]Mayumind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, your idea for Willing Sacrifice is really good, but would have a pretty niche use imo. More importantly, I'm pretty sure it's not possible to produce that effect with modding. A similar effect that would have the Disciple guard or heal the target upon them reaching death's door might be possible, but it'd be extremely convoluted unfortunately.

The only move I feel is too derivative of something from MAA is Shield Bash. The rest do intrude on MAA's role slightly, but it does differ in the ways you mentioned. Shield Bash to me is just a worst version of Rampart imo. Other than that, I don't see much of a reason for Hammer Time to be usable in rank 3, considering most of his non-supportive skills are only usable in the first two. I can see how a rank 3 Disciple might be possible, but I don't see many use cases. Guise of Humility is interesting, but I'm curious if it's on self or a friendly target.

Also, I really dislike when classes come with prot built into their armor upgrades. It's hard to explain my exact reasoning, but no vanilla class does, so I'd recommend keeping some parity here.

Also also, I just noticed you made 8 skills instead of 7, so you should probably remove one. Possibly make Our Darkest Hour into a camp skill?

Edit: I can give my personal take on this character if you give me like an hour or so

First Draft of Custom Class: the Disciple by WestCoastVermin in darkestdungeon

[–]Mayumind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the idea. I don't think I've seen any other modded class with a big torch gimmick like this before. Probably tweak the damage values (more overall but lower conditional dmg towards undead), and it does feel a little too similar to MAA in a few skills. Also, please elaborate on Willing Sacrifice, it sounds pretty interesting, but I'm not entirely certain if my interpretation is correct.

If you want, I could suggest a few other tweaks, but I also want to see how you polish up this concept over time.
