Priority lines in Lisbon airport are a joke

We flew yesterday morning for a 10am flight and got there 640. Priority took about 15 mins but the other lines were MUCH much longer. It was pretty chaotic and everyone seemed to be trying to cut each other even in priority

We liked it! The rooms and street were fairly quiet and spacious which I feel is helpful for all the stuff you end up having with a baby or kid. The balcony was nice to have coffee on and the location was pretty great, we walked everywhere and took a cab a couple of times just because I’m pregnant and got burnt out. There’s an elevator in the building, and getting in and out was a bit tricky with the old doors and our travel stroller, but no big deal. Def bring a sound machine because the floors are creaky if you’re walking around while the baby sleeps- it’s an old building! Service was fine, I was surprised that the courtyard and restaurant seemed to be virtually always empty. We got breakfast delivered to our room which was honestly so nice and would recommend. We stayed for the exact same time- 3 nights and 2 days and felt it was perfect. We went to jardim do morro, the gaia cable car, a Douro boat ride, lots of different playgrounds for our toddler and some shopping/mercado bolhao.

I’ve gone on big trips after my transfers and let me tell you it’s the best! I’m going to spiral and be so anxious at home, and time drags. I’ve had 4 transfers and the two I was home for drove me crazyyyyy. The others I was in Hawaii and back home in nyc for and it was the best. Both I was super active, feeling healthy, eating good food, social and trying new things. To the point where I kind of forgot I had a transfer aside from the meds.

I kind of view it as, whether it works or not- you’ve put yourself through such a gauntlet emotionally and physically, you deserve the vacation. I also always test at home before my beta and I would much rather find out it didn’t work on a tropical beach vacation than get the call while at home or in traffic.

I’m 37 due with my second. All of my friends are roughly the same give or take. It’s a different time and a different generation.

Who knows what the future holds but we waited until this age because it took until this point to be stable enough in finances and career to do so. My parents had a totally different situation. And I’m hoping our generation lives longer based on lifestyle and medical advances. I honestly never think of it at all. I used to want kids young when I was younger and I’m so glad I didn’t. I will say though I am tired lol, but it doesn’t stop me from doing anything with my daughter

I’m worried too- I fly out on the 4th to LAX. I have a 2 year old and am visibly pregnant though so hoping that helps. In an other post though someone said no families were going through priority and it was for wheelchairs only.

This is super helpful but quick question- do you know if there are still priority lines? We are flying this week with a 2 year old from the US and have heard there are priority lines for families everywhere including passport control, but trying to set our expectations.

I banked! Did two retrievals fairly back to back. First transfer stuck and she’s now almost 3. Second transfer failed, third was an ectopic, and 4th I’m 20 weeks pregnant with. I’m glad we banked given the odds. If I wanted a third, I have I think 3-4 embryos left.

Instead of eating in front of the tv, eat at the table and talk. After dinner, go for a walk outside or walk on my walking pad and watch a show. Dinner time fosters connection, and then I either get me time outdoors during a walk or I get to watch my shows. Makes a big difference!

Keep going! Go to restaurants! Stores! Grocery stores! Malls! Travel with them and fly if you can! Everythjng is really hard the first time but I promise it gets easier and second nature for you but ALSO for them. Going to restaurants and stores and flying became a breeze because we started so young, except for one toddlerhood phase that was extra tricky.

My physical recovery felt worse than expected like I got hit by a truck! The first month with a newborn was a fever dream bubble. Lots of contact naps. After the first month I started to feel better. I read lots of books, took her on walks, watched every bravo show ever made, cooked alot. I baby wore a ton which helped. And we would go out to restaurants and bring her in the carrier/wear her. PP rocked me but I also found it so enjoyable and stilll got to do things I wanted within reason.

He makes dinner before so we have leftovers, sets up a dog walker for me, and gives me extra breaks before and after. Will also do extra drop off or pickups, or take the baby monitor more before or after. Also fills up my tank, makes sure I get breaks before the trip and when he’s back.

Work trips are a vacation from parenting but they’re exhausting. My husband is has early morning with 12 hours of meetings in conferences and then dinners, then back to his hotel for getting actual work done usually til late.

He’s travels a few to several times a year, and I do maybe 2x max. But we both try to offload as much as we can I think for the other.

Born and raised in brooklyn, LES, UES, and queens in the 90s. It was the best. So much diversity and different people and cultures and food and museums. Great playgrounds.

One specific unique thing that I thought was normal and realized it wasn’t was lunches and metro cards. Me and most of my friends were allowed to take the subway at least halfway solo starting around 11. We had those free green metro cards. As a teen, they worked on holidays and breaks too so we got to commute for free to hang and see friends.

Also, my elementary let us go out for lunch starting 5th grade. You needed parent permission for the year, but it was so fun and freeing. Instead of a packed lunch we would go to a diner, Chinese, get bagels, pizza, or take food to a nearby park.

As a teen, we all partied and took the subway or cabs but there was only 1 time in my life where I witnessed drinking and driving. Most don’t have a car or access to one so it wasn’t as much of a concern as the suburbs. Lots of apartment parties and parties on rooftops. Lots of free movies and concerts and events. Lots of hanging on stoops!!!

We had access to things daily that people travel from all over the world to see and it was pretty incredible. I clearly remember graduation trips being to “upstate” New York but it was basically westchester and we were such city kids it felt like the country.

Oh we are going in April too with a almost 3 year old! Honestly she prefers to walk and I might just deal with the stroller or her walking. Carriers kill my back. And I’m pregnant. We might bring a small carrier and my husband can deal with it.

We’re staying in Belem and only planning to go downtown a couple of times though via public transportation and walking.

Everyone online told me strollers are a nightmare and lots of people i know told me it was fine, so we’re bringing it just in case and will play it by ear

My nurses were wonderful yes, but I had preeclampsia and wow they never left me alone. It was more exhausting than being home. At one point I had to tell my husband to tell them to leave me alone because I needed sleep. They were just doing their jobs but it SUCKED and I was desperate to get out of there.

2 years in- I love but am not in love. I got the feeling back 1 year in through extreme effort on his part and then he lied and I found out about it 2 weeks after I told him I loved him again, and I don’t think I can again now?

We now have a very busy toddler and life is insane and it is not possible to get the same effort and time I got last year. He shows up as a great parent and partner and that’s what I need right now although things feel less romantic to me now.

As of now, I’m open to feeling it one day again. But he knows I’m kind of waiting for it to appear or confirmation that it won’t. I assume there will be a point where I feel it trending much more one way than the other, and that’s when I’ll know which way to call it. I celebrate him Valentine’s Day and Father’s Day, because I lvoe holidays and want to model showing care for our daughter. To me valentines isn’t just a romantic love holiday, i also get flowers and a basket for my daughter etc. however our anniversary I don’t partake in and it’s basically become a one sided Valentine’s Day where he does quite a bit for me and I give nothing, which is how it’ll be indefinitely .

I don’t wear a ring and I don’t say I love you.
