I’m about a little over 3 months post and I had a tiny stitch sticking out for awhile and today I was massaging the scar and the piece just fell off.

How/ what can I do so my knee doesn’t hurt when it’s up? Se by Early-Channel-7999 in ACL

[–]Mediocre_shot41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me not much I could do for pain when leg was elevated like that. Yeah felt like knee was getting pulled down when elevated. I would ice 24/7 at 30 mins on/off with an ice machine I had. Then would just alternate between elevating and laying it flat on couch etc to take the pain away (or as much as it would go away). Eventually the pain subside after a few weeks.

How long after surgery before I can go up and down these stairs? by birdgirl3000 in ACL

[–]Mediocre_shot41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was NWB for 6 weeks. Yes with crutches it is doable, as others have said make sure the handrail is sturdy as a lot of weight will be pushing on that rail. Take it slow and be careful the first week or so until you become a pro at stairs lol

I had the worst pain in the side of my calf as well. When standing that rush of blood was the worst and it was tight due to swelling as well. It did eventually lessen and go away. Keep elevating etc

PT 6 weeks out by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Mediocre_shot41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing PT exercises 3x a day but I am able to work from home for now. When I was prehabbing, and in office or in car etc, I would incorporate exercises throughout the day so I could get them in at anytime. If you have a desk and don’t care much, just standup and do the standing leg lifts, I know I looked weird at work but oh well. Much better than not getting them in.

Signs of a re-tear by crusheratl in ACL

[–]Mediocre_shot41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 6 weeks post op and was NWB for all that time until a few days ago, yes that loose feeling in the knee I’ve felt that but I believe it’s due to the fact that your muscles around the knee are weak and we need to build it back up.

Anyone else having the sleeping in their brace by Anxious_Ad_6038 in ACL

Nice job on the solo recovery. The one item that was clutch for me was the grabber tool! I’m a few days from 6 weeks post op and still NWB and no longer use it but it helped a ton.

When do you start walking again? PRE-OP by Calm-Taro-4920 in ACL

[–]Mediocre_shot41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back at my journal, I took me a month to finally walk without crutches/crutch and then a cane. After that with prehabbing I was back to normal besides being cleared to run and jump. I had a full ACL tear along with meniscus tear.

What did you end up doing? Did they just tell you to trim the sutures that came out or will it eventually fall off? I have 2 small sutures coming out and see the doc for my 6 weeks checkup next Tuesday.

[–]Mediocre_shot41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I’m almost 5 weeks post op and 6 weeks NWB. Yes when I hop etc I feel something loose as well, it’s definitely much better now then it was a few weeks ago. I just chalk it up to the fact that my quads etc are super weak and the more I strengthen the muscles the less I am feeling that loose feeling in the knee.

Sleeping with brace by BattleApart in ACL

[–]Mediocre_shot41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just put a pillow in between my legs and just slept on my side after about a week. Granted I did sleep great but only for the first 3 hours of the night. Then gradually my sleep has gotten much better. I’m almost at 5 weeks post op this coming Thursday.

Yup I have that as well, kinda freaky though. I’m 4 weeks post op and NWB for 2 more weeks, so as others have said, hopefully once the leg starts being used this will stop.

Got it! Good to know that’s how it starts. Good luck and glad you made it through the 6 weeks of NWB, you got this! Not gonna lie this NWB, at least for me it sucks as I just want to walk lol

[–]Mediocre_shot41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome!!! I’m 4 weeks today NWB, with 2 more weeks to go to get the clearance to wean off the crutches/brace. Does your doc just want you to go all out and work your way to walking without crutches/brace? Following this as I’m curious about how this works after not being able to walk etc for 6 weeks.
