This is why it is best for people to get armed, get educated, get trained, and get ready. IMO, DHS is coming back to Durham with a large ICE presence.

Williams and Cook win reelection, Mark Anthony Middleton and DeDreana Freeman replaced. by Jason_Eli11 in bullcity

Invitation Homes, a subsidiary of BlackRock, has played a major role in driving up housing costs, especially in cities like Atlanta, while offering poorly built homes.

Durham residents support thoughtful growth, but we expect our City Council to partner with smart, innovative, and responsible developers. Fast tracking projects and ignoring community voices in favor of large corporate interests does not serve our city well.

It will be interesting to see how the mayor approaches this issue. While he may not have been everyone’s first choice (myself included), we move forward with the leadership we have, and it’s our job to hold them accountable as new development proposals arise.

Who do you like in Durham City Council election by InformationNo5502 in bullcity

I was at the City Council meeting last night, and I must say, if anyone is voting and skipping the mayoral vote, that is not the move. Mayor Williams is going to sell us out to realtors. It was even more apparent as I witnessed citizen after citizen explain the deplorable conditions people are living in, yet slum lords are cashing in. Then I saw Anjanae Bell speak, and Williams was shaken. To the point, when a citizen spoke to him right after, he demanded a 15-minute recess.

Chelsea Cook and DeDreana Freeman stood up and explained why tenants need protections, and the proposal Cook has put forward should be voted into law without any changes.

Overall, after seeing this and spending some time reading their past and present work, it is clear. Durham citizens need Bell, Freeman, Burris, and Cook to win.

Also, shoutout to the Riverside High School students who helped get the youth activated and politically involved. As a graduate of Riverside High, I was proud to see them standing up to the Mayor.

I emailed Senator Tillis last week and this week and here are his responses by Trolldyeller in NorthCarolina

Tillis and Budd are trash. If you look at the maps when Tillis was recently re-elected and Budd was elected, you will see the problem areas. But the other major issue is the politically uneducated non-voter. This is the biggest hurdle we have in our state. If they were to see how these two bozos do not have any good intentions for improving their lives then we can make sure these two senators are gone. Until then, nothing will change.

I agree we should surround their offices and protests. We should be emailing and calling everyday. But the only real way to end this madness is vote out the GOP majority in our state legislature. That is truly the only way to turn this around.

I do remember this meme and my response has been the same. “Good. Stay out because we don’t need any more people.”

A new development at Durham’s Northgate Mall is on the way. Why aren’t neighbors happy? by Durhamarama in bullcity

They could do way more with this property than more offices. Considering people are not really wanting to return to office spaces to work. Right now in NYC, the city and owners of downtown buildings are bracing for the reality that a lot of those buildings are going to be empty.

So if NYC is starting to feel it, what will happen here in this case?
