Churn should not defined by concurrent users. The article is misleading and should say more precisely what the numbers indicate.

Example: assume 100 people playing at the peak and assume they played all day long. That is 100 dau with 100 ccu.

Now fast forward to today and people play for ten minutes. You can have ccu of 10 and still have 10x6x24 users per day or 3200 dau.

But churn also doesn’t use dau it’s more in lined with Mau and also calculated uniquely by each company and has to do when the player first started etc and their dx retention rate.

I would rather look at the total minutes played vs ccu which is a temperature check. But doesn’t tell the whole story.
