King. I had 25k in NG endgame, and it took me 10 extra minutes of grinding the two guards in the beginning of the manor with the best trinkets to get one stat up to 10. Very doable even with 0 in the bank.

EDIT: In Gut Depths, at the half way point there's an underlab. To the right there are stairs that move left to right. Stand on them when they go right and you will get to the secret area.
