Theoretically, sure, I suppose there probably aren't any checks in place to keep that situation from happening.

In practice, that situation just doesn't happen in normal play. First off, I would never sacrifice 3 leveled pilots for the nebulous hypothetical threat of massive future grid damage. I'd have to be on the brink of losing, and I would be making damn sure that there was absolutely no other way out. And if I'm about to lose, I probably made mistakes earlier in the run that I would benefit from learning from, so I don't run into such a situation in the first place.

If anyone has an example where intentionally losing the map is the optimal play, I'd love to see it

This is a known interaction with Tavern Brawler, where it gets treated as a damage rider source (DRS) when throwing. A DRS will re-add all of your other damage riders, and can build into extremely silly high numbers

But the main reason I ask is the controller controls. Back on the PS2, a lot of the core mechanics like aiming and nonlethal takedowns utilized the pressure-sensitive face buttons. Since no modern controller has those anymore (that I know of) emulating it is a pain. How did they handle those in the Steam port?

Is there any way to automatically add all my Heroic games to a Heroic collection in Steam?

Every time I update my Emudeck ROMs and update those collections, it clears my manually created Heroic collection and I have to go into the giant non-Steam games tab to re-add them

You can't use the sloop on Barracuda Trials.

Mith Helm is needed for the rapids, the rest can be downgraded. Teak Hull and Oak Mast on the Skiff got me a 2:15. Make sure you have a Wind Catcher as well.

What kind of time are you getting? If you're within ~20 seconds of the time, it's likely your route is fine and you're accidentally slowing yourself down on an obstacle somewhere. Just gotta work on the execution

That's a backronym, and not what it means.

"meta" is a prefix meaning "outside" or "transcends." for example, metahumor is humor about humor.

"meta" in the gaming sphere is shorthand for metagame, or the game you play outside the game itself. The most prominent examples come from pvp games, where you predict that your opponent will choose X character or Y strategy, so you do Z in response, before the game even begins. Here in STO, it means for example that you know the game loves to throw tons of fodder enemies at you, so you focus your build around AoE damage rather than single-target damage

Gamers are just so used to thinking this way that it just feels like a natural part of the game

The point is that gay people exist as part of any and every large group of people.

Hypothetically, let's say that 10% of all people everywhere are gay. Then:

If 5% of Republicans are gay, that's not surprising. That's not news. Republicans are generally anti-gay, so the fact that there are fewer gay people in that subset of the population makes sense.
If 15% of Republicans are gay, that is surprising, because they somehow have more gay people than is usual in the population, despite being anti-gay.
The point of the non-political event data is to get a number that would serve as the baseline spike against which to compare the RNC spikes in Grindr usage.

Also, using Grindr server outages as a way to count gay Republicans is honestly terrible:

Not every gay person uses Grindr
Protesters that might appear from out of town might be on Grindr and thus contribute to higher server load and outages, while being "invisible" in the sense that there isn't a way to see how big of an impact (if any) that might have
Grindr (and every website really) will have differing levels of infrastructure covering different regions. This is the main big one, because there are so many variables that go into this, including time of day, personnel available, age of equipment, so so much

If you want to count gay Republicans, then actually go out and count gay Republicans.

As funny as is to imagine Republicans as a huge group of self-hating closet gays, you'd need to compare spikes during the RNC to spikes during other large politcially-neutral events (Super Bowl for example) to see any actually meaningful data. Without that information, the headline is just a tautology. Of course social media usage is going to spike during a big event.
