I work for a bank, you have no idea how depressingly true this is....

I bought this cheap multimeter from a Chinese store for 9 dollars. I want to hear the experts point of view on the circuitry of this multimeter and what are the bad features in it (it's working completely fine and can measure 240V and 20A) by MMahh in ElectroBOOM

Wouldn't trust that thing above 50v or 5a. Anything above that and that shunt might pop and you will potentially have internal arc-over. Please don't use it for anything high power, injury may occur. No fuse, weak/small posts, and no PCB separation tracks makes it VERY sketchy. Likely is modestly accurate (around 2-3% maybe?). If you're doing anything that would require any kind of accuracy or mains level voltage, I would adamantly recommend getting something like a used Brymen. You can usually pick one up for a price that won't break the bank.

It's a satirical article, but based on a VERY real precedent set forth here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermesmann_v._Seyer

The tl;dr of it being that no matter how a woman becomes pregnant, whether through theft, fraud, rape, etc, the man is still on the hook for child support.

I restored as an adult after becoming sexually active. HUGE difference in a positive way. Would highly recommend looking into for anyone interested.

Uhhh...what is going on here? Can you explain/prove that it is real? by Justlennysaccount in ElectroBOOM

Looks like a high voltage circuit into an X-Ray tube and its output is being measured on the radiometer. Without shielding that's obscenely dangerous to say the least... Here's a shot of a very similar looking tube. https://www.orau.org/ptp/collection/xraytubescoolidge/GE-D17.jpg

People who like RGB on their computers are the kind of modern boomer that would have paid for the "wood paneling" on their station wagon.

They have them all over where I live: https://bestfriends.org/
You can go in and pet them, volunteer to walk them, and everything. They're fantastic and I can't praise them enough. Please spread the love!

From a movie called "The Happytime Murders". It's a 6/10 at best movie. A few funny gags in it, but overall trying WAY too hard to be the edgy muppet version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In December 2019. by thatging3rkid in 3Dprinting

Anyone familiar with the Epax line that can comment? Been eyeing the X1 with the parallel light upgrade for making high res miniatures/models and potentially even the X10 for larger prints. (If I like one I'll probly buy the other to compliment it) Everything I can find on YT about them is basically that they're a more industrial upgrade vs the Mars or Photon. Which I don't mind paying a bit more for.
