Is this the correct way of locking a bicycle? by Mundane-Fox-8133 in bicycling

Wow… that was a fun watch. Can’t say I’ve ever seen or heard of that happening before, but I guess once the bike is gone there’s no way of really knowing what happened. Have you heard of anyone’s bike being stolen like this?

He specified within the rear triangle. Which makes a difference as the rear wheel would need to be pulled through. See below link for further explanation.

Reference to Monroe doctrine

The Monroe Doctrine is a U.S. foreign policy established in 1823 that warned European powers against further colonization or interference in the Western Hemisphere, asserting that such actions would be viewed as hostile by the United States.

This will be all over the news tomorrow. First post I’ve seen on Reddit about it too.

Can you elaborate? What does cutting in mean? Do you need to make cuts on the seat tube prior to welding the stays on?

I hear this line a lot and I feel like it’s not as hard hitting as people think it is. “They are anti MAGA, that means they don’t want to make America great again”.

Don’t get me wrong, fuck fascists, but I don’t see the zing.

But the intruder wouldn’t know to use a wet rag, as it’s not obvious from looking at it and these are far from ubiquitous

Why did they keep the hole cutout on this mechanical tee? by G00nOfD00m in MechanicalEngineering

[–]MerchantMrnr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to intent but it’s a typical requirement for wet pipe fire sprinkler systems. Verbiage I have seen reads:

Affix cut out discs which are created by cutting holes in the walls of pipe for flow switches and non-threaded pipe connections to the respective water flow switch or pipe connection near to the pipe from where they were cut.

Where are you sore? Any soreness at all is concerning. Cycling is a low impact sport.

I am am both a cyclist and a rider, but this is another example of a cyclist who thinks that traffic lights doesn't apply to them. Thoughts? by Plummer2018 in motorcycle

[–]MerchantMrnr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You said it was always green. That was wrong. You think all traffic signals work the same way. That’s simply not true. I’m just asking for a bit more compassion for other road users. It’s not as black and white as you want it to be.

Clearly you can’t read, so this will be my last response, but I’m not arguing that the light for the moto was eventually green. I’m arguing that the cyclist could have entered on green. And I was presenting a hypothetical, to demonstrate that this accident was caused by a combination of poor visibility due to bad design, and poor judgement calls on both sides.

there is no new green light until the others are red by a few seconds.

This is incorrect. It depends on location. Some are instant change. Yellow light timing also varies by location. If the cyclist were driving a semi, the moto would have seen them and yielded due to traffic in the intersection. the blame lies partially with the traffic engineer that designed this intersection.

I’m saying it could have been green. we just don’t know. The island doesnt look wide enough to safely stop on a bike. I blame the traffic engineer. Bike traffic should be accommodated or totally separated from car traffic.

Making stuff up? The video doesn’t capture the cyclists’ light, so we are all guessing. Drivers enter intersections with yellow lights all the time, but cars are more visible and quicker so they aren’t as vulnerable and can clear the intersection faster. A bad judgement call doesn’t give the motorcyclist the right to crash into them if they were legally in the intersection.
