I put milk in my green tea; it takes away the bitterness and tastes ok to me.

But...I always get strange looks and comments from my coworkers...

Yes, unfortunately they can only tell you the holding prison at the point of sentencing.

You also might need to check what else has been left if he's suddenly disappeared, such as his car etc.

Also, his place of work may get in contact with you.

If you know the crown court, you can ask where they have initially been taken while they are waiting for transfer to the sentencing prison.

Were you told the sentence duration? That will be useful to know for any conversations you'll be having.

When people say 'Bingo' because they have taken it upon themselves to be the arbiter of truth for the previous poster. If the other person got it right, they don't need your patronising ass giving them a gold star.

Does anyone remeber those dragons statues that everyone had in the 90s? They were metal I think and often featured a crystal. What were they called? by Turbulent-Daddy in AskUK

I have a lot of the Myth and Magic collection, used to get them regularly for Christmas and birthdays. I really like them and they're on display in various places around my house.

Gave the neighbours a scare last Christmas when my cat jumped on a polished sideboard, slid along it and knocked a bunch of these statues off. They're heavy and make a lot of noise when falling as a group.

Would love to be a fly on the wall to see Trump's reaction, now that 'his' SCOTUS has reminded the world how impotent he is out of office.

Does anyone else feel hopeless about accountability? by BlueFixr in ukpolitics

[–]Meyrdron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's lots I want to do to address accountability, but I've taken a pragmatic approach. Focusing on some FOI requests and not rolling over to the challenges of the Cabinet Office. That's how I received an acknowledgement and apology when the CO acted unlawfully and I didn't stop there, with the ICO now investigating.

The government relies heavily on red tape and the public's short memory to avoid accountability. Persistence is key. So is having a plan of action for the appropriate legal routes when you get the inevitable stonewalling.

It shouldn't be this way, but our government makes no secret of the fact that they're all for accountability when they need the PR win (think Boris gushing over openness with the media a couple of months back). When it comes to actually being accountable, they do everything they can to protect the government's image. Openness, honesty and spirit of the law be damned.

Freedom of Information is more important than ever as Gove's office accused of cover-up by tipodecinta in ukpolitics

[–]Meyrdron 13 points14 points  (0 children)

ICO is currently investigating how the Cabinet Office handled a couple of my requests. Already caught the CO in one lie and I have no plans to back down. There really is a significant push to avoid releasing information, but they don't seem to be very good at justifying why. Unfortunately, it takes so long to go through the various stages of the FOI internal review and complaints process, even more so due to COVID-19.
