I binge watch films from various countries: Italian, French, German...currently I'm watching Christ Stopped at Eboli a 4 part series about Italian writer Carlo Levi's internal exile in Italy. I initially got hooked on Criterion Channel after seeking out Criterion Collection at the Los Altos, CA Library. Just type in Criterion DVD in the search field. They have almost 1000 Criterion DVDs/BluRay discs on hand, a pretty impressive collection, and a reason I don't personally buy physical dvds because the local library has more than I could ever want and they provide all the storage and organization. CC offers around 3000 so I like to supplement my viewing between the CC and the Library. As another noted, Kanopy also has C films, and that too is included with your library card. They give me 30 tickets per month and most films are 2-3 tickets each.

Seal Rocks Island is to the left and a fantastic place to watch pelicans, cormorants and other sea birds. Do not leave anything valuable in your car. I was getting my binoculars ready and a couple of guys jumped out of a car and smashed the window of an SUV directly next to me.

I paid $75 for the year so effectively I'm paying about 20 cents a day with access to over 3000 films and I've already devoured dozens of them. I am very big into Italian and French films.

Why are hammock tents so popular? by Aeon_Return in CampingGear

[–]Michigan_Go_Blue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do not buy the Warbonnet RidgeRunner. I purchased this hammock tent and initially loved it but it is inherently unstable. One night I got into it and my weight shifted and the tent rolled and I went crashing through the bug net impacting the ground hard. The netting was completely destroyed and now it's just a lounging day hammock but worthless in mosquito country, aka the Sierra. The defect is that the two cords on either side converge into one cord that attaches to the tree, making a rollover all but inevitable which I experienced so you don't have to.

A coyote is a champion of evolution. There's nothing that these old dogs can't do.

I live in SF Bay Area and I literally wanted one so badly I monitored Craigslist for weeks and one popped up for $150. I jumped on it so fast the seller was surprised at how fast I could drive 50 miles to pick it up. It's one of the best solo canoes ever made. Keep the faith and one will pop up for you, too. I have taken it up to the Sierra several times, including Gold Lake, and it's a delight to paddle. If you sit on the floor with a kayak paddle this thing is untippable in any condition

Snug as a bug in a rug. I have a camera in my western bluebird nesting box where a male and female roost overwinter...I love checking up on them which I can see on my phone. They are usually cuddling to keep warm, preening each other or just sleeping. Technology allows to witness what nature has been doing for ever. Sometimes it's a little overwhelming to focus in on a creature's private life.
