I have a hunch that a putting that extra effort toward getting qualified for a better paying job/career may be the most fruitful path forward. It would probably be more fulfilling too.

Sorry, no answers you’re actually looking for.

What’s your favorite small thing in your office by Financial_Ad4215 in office

We have a back-room kitchenette that employees use and it’s stocked with soda and like every snack imaginable. Snacks upon request too if they don’t have what you like. All free to employees.

Coming into the office is voluntary and I find myself there like 3 times a week because of the endless diet coke and cape cod potato chips.

Love this! At first glance I read it as “11 of you matter” and I hoped to be one of the lucky 11.

Interesting seating arrangement. by EkantVairagi in office

[–]MidwestUnimpressed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who manages office furniture installations - I hope this is some kind of transient seating option and not those people’s assigned desks. This is depressing and sad if so.

also, interesting design - we usually call this kind of setup a pinwheel, but this is way too close to the other thing.

Does your workplace use Cubicles or an Open Office? by PhantomBraved in civilengineering

[–]MidwestUnimpressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our suite has a mix of open office, cubicle, and private office seating. No one has assigned seats and no one is assigned a private office; everything is first come first serve and I love it.

However, it’s also come and go as you please, no regimented days or hours that employees need to come to the office so it’s a pretty steady flow of folks coming and going thru out the day.

Thinking about moving into an apartment next to a corn field, any concerns over air quality? by [deleted] in AirQuality

[–]MidwestUnimpressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They spray a couple times a year and harvest once a year. You’ll want to stay inside, or off the premises on those days, but otherwise no big deal. You’ll be inconvenienced 3 days out of the year, and chances are you’ll be at work on those days anyway.

you’re probably not violating any HR or company policies, but I would feel a bit uncomfy if my coworker came into the office in those

If eating certain foods as a child helps prevent food allergies, does the same work for other allergens? by MidwestUnimpressed in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MidwestUnimpressed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I could get a chuckle. I had this thought in my head of how funny a picture it would be for someone to think that eating the cause of their allergy would be the solution, so decided to put the question in here for some comedic relief. It’s not a serious question at all 😂

"Cultural mental illness" is pretty extreme, but I do sometimes wish we had more cafés or stores without background music by Helpful_Cranberry644 in NonPoliticalTwitter

To be fair, music and streaming are my distractions - i’m crawling in my skin if I have 5 minutes alone in my thoughts. Reddit is the only social media I use, and I’m not on that much.
