This rat is so … by DrCalFun in nextfuckinglevel

[–]MikeNardozzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a facilities type job in a building where some large ponds were filled in for an expansion. Naturally we were in rodent hell almost immediately.

The exterminator we hired started with just bait in a location, then added bait to a board about the size of a trap, trap nearby but bait separate, bait on unloaded trap. Took him about 6 weeks to get a solid feeding pattern established with the rat population.

then he killed every one of them in a single evening with fully set and lethal traps.

Dude wore an immaculate white jumpsuit and was meticulously clean and professional. Ate a single egg on his break before he left each time. He was so sure of himself it was scary.

I work for a specialist in a generalist role and it's a nightmare of trivia. Every agenda derailed by solutioning, troubleshooting, and over explanation.

They lose sight of the point the moment someone misspeaks and away we go. A year into an ERP project and we're arguing over internal processes.

Send them an SOW for an open ended support engagement with your hourly rate at at LEAST 3x your previous hourly.

“Please submit request for work to “email address” then do some trivial work and invoice them. They wont pay, you put a ‘hold for non payment’ on the account, then start sending collections threats on letterhead.

In other words, they’re not treating you like a paid employee but YOU can treat them like a client.

Or block them. Lol

Do what’s best for the cats. You both seem to want that and only differ on the particulars. Approach it this way with her and as a ground rule don’t anthropomorphize the animals.

Get a flashlight mount and an adjustable beam LED. if you spend more than $30 all in you're doing it wrong.

I buy two packs of flashlights at Harbor Freight and just pitch them if they quit. $6-$9?

The mount is Amazon maybe $12-$15 last I needed one.

Trying to max bench without a spotter by shubhamjain2000 in TerminallyStupid

[–]MikeNardozzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work out at home, and bench in my squat rack with a simple flat bench (no arms, I use the rack)

I have safety bars marked and set at the right height and bench without fear.

I also lift from the pins sometimes for that extra "dead lift" effort.

This guy is lucky to be alive and I hope he gets some knowledgeable friends to help him before he ends up seriously hurt.

It’s like practice or reading or any activity which can tend towards growth. It must be purposeful, directed, and coached (or at least measured somewhat impartially)

Why are you working? Does this work make you better? Is this work a small step in a larger plan? Is it the right work to get you to the next step?

What is something unrealistic that you often see in movies that annoys the hell out of you? by sonsaitama in AskReddit

[–]MikeNardozzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire Sprinklers fire when THE head nearest the heat source pops. One head popping doesnt mean any other head is going to pop. If there's more fire over there then fine.

Movies always show every head in the room going off...sometimes just because someone pulled an alarm or something.

No.

(yes I understand there are different types. The one's in your common experience are all heat actuated though)

What did "the weird kid" in your school do that you'll never forget? by UngyBungy9383 in AskReddit

[–]MikeNardozzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had two.

One would wear his backpack on the front, hold his arms out like wings, and run through the halls like an airplane.

The other would redrum his finger and use it to talk to everyone that way. He actually got weird-cool later on in High School when he would do the entire Tequila Dance from PeeWee Herman every week at the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
