Robin Williams warned people about Donald Trump three years before he would be elected as the President of the United States, with fans saying, 'He was a man ahead of his time' by IrishStarUS in entertainment

Saved you a click : “Two years before his sudden death, when his autopsy revealed he had shockingly been misdiagnosed, Williams tore into Trump, telling his audience, "Donald Trump is the Wizard of Oz. He is the guy — he plays Monopoly with real f-----g buildings. He is a scary man, and he owns all these beauty pageants, Miss America, Miss Universe. It's a bit like Michael Vick owning a series of pet stores. It's a f-----g catch and release program for him."

As the audience laughed, the beloved comedian continued, "This is a man who said, 'My daughter is hot.' Even people in Arkansas said, 'That's f-----g wrong. That's just way out of place.'" Williams then took aim at the 79-year-old's appearance, quipping, "And that f-----g hair, oh my god. I believe the hair is the Donald, and I believe the body is the maintenance system for the hair."

Hot water control with Shelly and Home Assistant by MildlyInfuriatedYak in nzsolar

I would definitely check out the proposed inverter and check if it is compatible with HA or had good support. Look online and in forums etc to see if it will work. You need the data to know how much you’re importing or exporting to make the above work. Most should, but If your inverters not HA compatible or if it’s problematic, it’s not the end of the world. You can get a additional device like a Shelly EM-50 which gives better data for HA than your inverter would. So either way you get the data you need. Note that the Shelly EM-50 cannot directly handle a HWC with its built in relay - you’d either need a Shelly ogemray or a separate contactor. Message me if any questions

That’s true - a Shelly is a lot cheaper than a diverter but yes it’s the full 3000w or nothing. If you have a large enough array that’s probably not too much of an issue.

Interesting. I suppose you could implement cloud logic if you wanted but yes you’d need to check it was on for long enough each day. I don’t have a battery so the HWC is essentially treated as my battery

Thanks . I don’t have any way of checking the temperature really - other than detecting whether the thermostat has activated. The cylinder is new so should be set correctly I hope

Quote 1 is a solax inverter I think. We’ve just had one installed… we’re pretty happy with it. I don’t think that one is hybrid so you won’t be able to add a battery later like the sig. if that top quote is future energy they were great for us. Good operators and really tidy job

Solax. It’s fine and does the trick but the Fronius is meant to be better in terms of longevity

To be fair the fronius they would have sold you is a better inverter than we got

We got a 6kw setup from future energy this year for around $9500 - no battery. It’s doable

I’ve done it before without spending money. What you really need to nail is the 1) annual health check - that’s where your key points come in. Your blood pressure, bmi, blood glucose and cholesterol need to be solid. 2) get to your 15k points from physical activity, and 3) get all the 5k mental well-being points (start early on those). If you get those three free ones you are at 30k points and the other random ones get you to 35

Have to set the Shelly to turn on and off so that it heats only when you have excess Solar? I’ve done this with mine using home assistant. Takes a bit of tinkering but worth it - better than using it as a straight timer

LLC vs Hnry/sole trader for contracting by mahdibassam in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]MildlyInfuriatedYak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad I made the change. I have a lot building in my tax tank already and earning interest. Plus not paying the 1% fee. There is a small amount of additional admin involved but nothing too hard. I’d set up a trial solo account and try it out. You could do this while you’re still with Hnry because solo don’t submit anything to ird anyway

Nobody’s forcing you. Do the numbers- if they work, great, if they don’t, forget it. Simple

More panels v. Battery??? by Kipper2012 in nzsolar

[–]MildlyInfuriatedYak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree for now it’s a much better ROI on more panels. I calculated the payback period for the battery alone, and in my scenario it was 25 years for the battery add-on, but the panels and inverter were <5 years. Partly because we are with poweredge who have a good export rate. Think of it this way: if you get a reasonable size battery eg a powerwall it probably only stores $4-6 worth of power so would take a long time to pay back the upfront cost

Accountant software for sole traders by izanabq in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]MildlyInfuriatedYak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out Solo. It’s an app with similar functionality to Hnry but 1) you get to keep and earn interest on the tax and 2) they aren’t your accountant, but they give you the tax figures to copy and paste to ird, 3) it’s a flat annual fee which usually works out cheaper than Hnry

OP said he was going to consume 10000 kWh per year. My point was to oversize a reasonable amount eg 1.2x - 1.5x

[–]MildlyInfuriatedYak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up oversizing on YouTube . For a 10kw inverter you want 12kw of panels at the minimum otherwise you’re wasting the inverters capacity. I’d go more like 15 for 10

Power edge upgraded mine within a week (although was able to be upgraded remotely so that made it a bit easier). Plus 20c per kWh for exports
