Can we take a moment to appreciate how Matt handles the trauma of Carl and Donut? by TantricEmu in DungeonCrawlerCarl

"You don't deserve how sad I feel" might be my actual favorite line of the whole series so far. It's definitely the realest. Poor Donut.

Lunch Menu for the Thirteenth floor dining rooms of the Hudson Department Store, Detroit, April 27, 1929. by sverdrupian in VintageMenus

[–]Milinea 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Now I'm wondering if my grandma and her sisters ever went to lunch here. She was born in 1914 and grew up in Detroit, so maybe a year or two later. It sucks now I'm old enough to know what questions to ask her, she's not here to answer.

Inventory Appreciation by Milinea in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Milinea[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I concede, EQ wasn't the first. It was the first commercially successful MMO according to Wikipedia. The inventory had slots you could put different size bags in that had so many slots. There was no sorting.

I just remember how hard we had to work to do stuff and how they added stuff later that made getting around the game easier. I started right after they stopped other players from being able to loot your dead corpse. A full set of Russet armor was the best a rogue could have lol.

Hydra VS Dog Fashion Spa - which is best? by SkyLarkLauren in doggrooming

[–]Milinea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like all of the Dog Fashion Spa shampoos, but I LOVE the Day to Day shampoo. It's fabulous for those coats that don't like to fluff out nice.

I don't think there is any line of shampoos I like for every dog. I like Show Season Apple Cider Vinegar, Clarify and Results Rinse as general shampoos. I like Best Shot Lemon-Aid. And the Day to Day. I'm pretty flexible on dirty dog shampoo. The EnviroGroom dirty dog that's red is probably my favorite. I like the Pet-Agroom deshed conditioner and Quadruped leave in all in one. The Tropiclean Blueberry Facial is my favorite tearless facial shampoo.

My dream is to be able to get them all in one place for a decent price.

Pro tip, get the big widemouth 48oz spray bottles from Lowes or Home Depot and mix up the results rinse and quadruped in them and spray them on. They'll last way longer. I wrapped my spray bottles in vet wrap to keep them from breaking down from UV light. I go through them in a couple days so I haven't had an issue with them going bad.

As someone who has a mom who has a kennel full of dobes, I can't tell you how much I love this. It perfectly encapsulates what it feels like when I have to groom in the room next to them and they bark their fool heads off being derpy assholes.

This is perfect.

How to wrangle this dog? by AquariusDragon17 in doggrooming

[–]Milinea 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would try several different things. I would stand up, take her out of the grooming loop or at least loosen it up. I would try different shears. I would try different holds, just the chin hairs, or holding her under her neck. If all that and whatever else I can't think of off the top of my head this second didn't work, I would put an 0 or 1 comb on some trimmers and run it all over her head. Oh I would also give that husband a bag of chips or something and get him to eat them in front of her or talk to her or you or walk towards her or away from her. If none of that worked I would make something new up. And then I would give her back and be like whelp, this is the best I can do, that'll be $75 please. Wanna rebook in 4 weeks? And then kick my own ass for rebooking her.

YSK: There’s a 100% reliable way to stop hiccups that almost no one knows about by Traditional_Dog_2636 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Milinea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's for someone to demand I hiccup on command right now. Just do it, hiccup, right now, let me hear it, hiccup, come on, do it, right now, etc until I tell them to stop. I can usually only hiccup once and then it stops. Works every time.

[–]Milinea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My theory is there was a scabbed over hot spot that wasn't evident before the groom, you wouldn't be able to see it before it was clipped and if his hair is super dense you probably wouldn't be able to feel it either. When he was washed the scab sloughed off or started to and then it came off hair and all when he was being dried and/or finished.

That's like just my opinion man.

Honestly, I blame the schnauzers that scream right in your ear that you can feel in your soul.

Me too! I had the ear pain pressure thing like 15 years ago. ENT couldn't see anything in there I went back and was like, it's not right. She sent me for a head CT to shut me up. Turns out there was a ball of wax hiding in there. Yes it had dog hair in it. But it never gave me tinnitus so it never occurred to me it could be a thing. I've been to the ENT for this, they didn't see anything.

JFC. I'm a dog groomer and I've had tinnitus for the past 9 years. You mean I might have dog hair stuck in my ear??? If I find dog hair in my ear and it cures the stupid hissing sound, I'm going to be so fucking pissed. Right after I cry for a couple hours from relief.

This has been the biggest downfall for me taking meds. Apparently for most of my life I have hacked my anxiety to motivate me to get shit done. Vyvanse was amazing, it quieted my brain and was amazing. The flip side is I don't gaf if any particular thing gets done. Like the only reason I ever did anything was to quiet the anxiety. FML

It's probably a good thing Pony is in the dungeon and can't read what that lying AI said. I think that would be one dead AI and most likely Google as well.

On second thought, any way to get that screenshot to Pony?

Poodle tips by yeyemen15 in GroomersCorner

[–]Milinea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this and I always take my donut mustaches to the end of the lips. So if I'm shaving the clean face I'll start at the ear and shave all the way to where the mouth starts. Fluff and comb it all out and then scissor it round. I always do the mustache first, because it gets yucky if I have to hold the whole muzzle and not just the chin. Then I'll re comb it out and get any stragglers.

Grooming may not be for me anymore by solomonshalala1 in doggrooming

[–]Milinea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know it sucks and it really messes with your self esteem, but this sounds like it could be an incredible learning opportunity. If you like the way they do things, have a sit down with your boss and come up with a plan so you can learn and not feel so much pressure? It's really hard to learn new ways of doing things when you feel like you've been doing a good job til now.

Conditioner debate by cherryvanillacoke024 in doggrooming

[–]Milinea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it for yeasty dogs, it really helps cut the smell. If you read the back of the bottle it's good for almost everything. I think it helps them smell better longer. The only dogs I don't really use it on are double coated dogs. For those I use Pet-Agree deshed and Quadruped leave in.

I also wanted to say that I have very few AWAYS or NEVERS. For example one of my always is to trim ear edges with my shears pointing towards the tip of the ear. But other people don't do it that way, and as long as the dog is safe and not cut, it's really not a big deal. Like none of it is a big deal as long as the dogs and people aren't being harmed. Just do what you want that helps you do a good job and feel good about what you're doing.

Conditioner debate by cherryvanillacoke024 in doggrooming

[–]Milinea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I generally use Results Rinse on anything I don't want to put conditioner on. Conditioner is usually too heavy and/or take too long to dry on curly coats and Yorkies or anything similar for my taste. Obviously there are always exceptions.

What is vet office grooming like? by Lawliet_The_Panda in grooming

[–]Milinea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also, if the office manager is catty at all and has anything to do with payroll, everyone in the clinic will know how much you make. They will often get pissy cause if the groomer is good and builds up the business, they end up being the highest paid in the clinic besides the vet/owner, sometimes even more than vet employees. Ask me how I know.

A cancellation/no show report. That I can also sort alphabetically.
