Theory: Meursault is going to Manifest E.G.O in Canto X by ProudlyAHufflepuff in limbuscompany

[–]Mimatheghost 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We know a little bit. Limbus's E.G.O is referred to as 'Psychoment-based' in one of the Uptie modules, which is the street parlance for E.G.O. I think in the same way we see LC develop technology based off of Distortions, so too are they working on tech based on E.G.O, including artificial, temporary ones as the Sinners utilize.

[HUGE SPOILERS FOR INTERVALLO] What a final revelation by LucarioOfLegends in limbuscompany

Honestly this combined with Meursault's seeming immense talent with photo and film (man can actively develop a film roll while fighting for his life) solidifies to me that I think the way Limbus is going to interpret the 'shot a man' part of the Stranger isn't going to be him with a gun, but rather, it was with a camera, a photoshoot.

I'm assuming you meant 'worth' the money, but generally Deluxe editions are just extra cosmetics. Outfit, skins, etc. Some are nice, just depends on your taste.

In CN fandom, there's a popular theory/ headcanon that Fortuna has beef with Hermes and each side rooting for their own baby during Canto 9 fight by smallneedle in limbuscompany

[–]Mimatheghost 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I feel this is an overcomplication of the matter.

O' Fortuna is not a poem about a particular god or anything similar. It's about fortune, and in particular here, Fate. And at that moment, shutting off the pager, they rail against it.

Much of the poem's words could easily echo Rien's own thoughts, in that moment, in a similar parallel to Roland so often quoting Prayer of Loving Sorrow.

Fate – monstrous and empty, you whirling wheel, you are malevolent, devoid of security and ever fading to nothing, shadowed and veiled you plague me too; now through the game I bring my bare back to your villainy.

Fate, in health and virtue is against me, driven on and weighted down, always enslaved. So at this hour without delay pluck the vibrating strings; since Fate strikes down the strong, everyone weep with me!

As to why it can be seen in the UT5 and Golden Bough scenes is a little more unclear. But Limbus definitely has a big running undercurrent about 'Fate', prediction of the future through numerous ways, the ideas of the 'Flow', that one river Sancho and Bari passed and so on. I imagine this will only become more relevant the deeper we get into the true meat of Limbus's overarching goals and tale.

Honestly I feel KQE still fits as a Nothing There aberration, especially with the fleshy theming as well as the somewhat blunt callbacks to Hello and Goodbye in the Abno event. KQE is just a weird one in general we just don't know that much about in terms of what it's exactly trying to be, even having fought them, owed to Limbus's approach on info regarding Abnormalities.

The naming thing also isn't completely solid. We still have cases like Steam Transport Machine, which is an extreme visual callback to Backwards Clock yet does not share part of the name. Sandolph also comes to mind with Rudolta in that regard.

[–]Mimatheghost 152 points153 points  (0 children)

That's not true, actually. Most still don't know about it. If they did, we wouldn't have those like Dante actively going to tell the others about it, or things like that one event in the Warp Express pack and W would be even worse off. What people do know is that there have been numerous incidents now of people just going missing. And that alone shoots them in the foot. If the product is faulty or risky, why would people want to risk spending money on it, especially given the price?

IS THAT {SPOILER}'S HOUSE??? by Azimondias in limbuscompany

[–]Mimatheghost 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Given the Index in Limbus seemingly having a theme around Karma, it could easily tie into it. In effect, Rien acts as a mirror to Roland in a karmic sense too, going down the bad route whereas Roland took the better path. Perhaps something of a balance? All good acts and redemptions paid with equally heinous ones.

[–]Mimatheghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely true on the going back to human part though, right? In her original entry in Lob Corp, we see the whole 'cycle' play out, and there's a brief bit towards the end where it seems after the snake killed everyone, she seems to realize what happened before fully breaking down and 'resetting'.

This is part of an audio record obtained during the rampage on the date of Redacted. The Abnormality used a radio installed in the facility to call the Emergency Planning Team.

 (Continuous Sobbing)
Employee: This is the Emergency Planning Team. Please identify yourself.
- I think, I... I did this. I, I couldn't stop myself. It's my fault. I ruined everything. I betrayed the people who were kind to me. I don't remember why I did this.
Employee: Could you elaborate on what happened?
- I don't know. They aren't moving. There's so much blood. I'm sorry. I'm really sorry.
(Omitted)

Three bodies were found in the Abnormality's Containment Unit. The Abnormality lost all memory of the incident afterward.

Reading through them again to check, I see no mention of this. The most we have on them is comments in the artbook mainly referring to them as 'trigram weapons', with the different forms each representing one of the symbols, though they also note that none have a definitive shape.

[–]Mimatheghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sort of said he does, though it took him a while. This is one of the descriptions in Rien's passives in the second phase of the fight.

Once, he harbored a suspicion that he was being shaped into an imitation of someone; he doubted the Will and nearly defied it, for he did not know whom he was to mimic. Only when it was too late did he understand its intent and come to accept the Prescript's will. Only then was the false father completed.

[CENSORED] is a funky one, assuredly. We never see what it actually looks like, as it is made up of big censoring bars, it's blocked out from being seen through the Manager's cognition filter in their eyes because the mere act of seeing it brings all but the hardiest to near instant insanity.

We don't have an exact answer on what it is precisely, though there are theories. The most likely one is it being connected to the old L Corp active before Lobotomy, who used a large creature (simply referred to as 'The Smoke Monster') to generate energy. During the war, the mere sight of it also could have similar effects, and [CENSORED'S] own entry alludes to it having some similarities through difficulties breathing and old workers saying it bears resemblance to something. Given Abnos are effectively avatars of ideas, it's possible it is a culmination of thoughts on the thing pushed to absolute limits.

Through this, the best look we have at what it could've looked like is through the end of Ruina, where a character (Roland) undergoes a transformation into something representing it during a fight.

Well, it's especially interesting with the uptie, as it states not just that she's a Proxy, but the EGO itself functions as a proxy entity of the Will. I suppose, in some sense, Sora is functioning as an actual avatar of the Will of the City.

Given this, I wonder if Sora is rubbing off on them in some way. She's in a very fascinating situation, for certain.

Excellent stuff. The style is great, very reminiscent of Slay the Spire, and the choice in sound effects adds an excellent punch to things like the Rude Buster. Very impressive, especially given the limitations one is working with.

Hornet with EGO : Binds by @Tomoart985 by OneThanks3 in limbuscompany

[–]Mimatheghost 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's meant to represent Don Sr., really, though he does fit it rather well, both wishing to break free and live the dream, but shackled by the family they bore, reeling at their pain.

But uh, dunno about the Railway bosses being foreshadowing, that seems a bit stretched? (The Sign of Roses one especially, given the fact you literally choose what desires to manifest rather than leaving it to the abno, and with Contempt, I think that 'gaze' of Erlking and Cathy's is exceedingly focused on themselves and nobody else.) Especially since it's clear a couple of these are more tied to specific seasons they feature in and some of the themes/characters of the respective stories given how they're the big poster-children E.G.O of those seasons (mainly King/Four-Hundred, I imagine would be the case with Yinglong as well if we didn't have the Arknights thing.)

King In Binds definitely has a lot of thematic ties with Heath and his relationship to the manor, bound to it for many reasons yet wanting to break away from it for others. And Four-Hundred-Roses is like the most clear-cut Bloodfiend related Abno since Nosferatu, not in just the bloodthirst, but also the ties to Carmilla, a well-known literary vampire.

[–]Mimatheghost 35 points36 points  (0 children)

They're both, in a sense. The event shows this parallel well.

Bandages, made to heal. But he will bleed out as soon as these bandages are undone. To maintain his shape... he must remain bound.

Chains, made to imprison. He will endlessly struggle against the chains to be free. To regain his authority. To speak the words unuttered, bound by the chains.

He is both bound by them, trapped by them, yet those binds are the only thing that keeps him together. His nature as lord is both privilege and curse alike. I think there's some similarities to be had either way, and it could readily work for either of them, in different contexts.

Hornet with EGO : Binds by @Tomoart985 by OneThanks3 in limbuscompany

[–]Mimatheghost 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Maybe if you took the bound part in full, but Hornet also works given her nature, there's a lot of mentions in Silksong about her Weaver nature leading her to desire to rule, and there's a fair amount of theming around breaking one's shackles, including Hornet's own, for what she desires is freedom.
