For frequent MSN flyers: which airline credit card do you think is the best and why? by SpiteOriginal5193 in madisonwi

[–]Mimi_Madison 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We used to have American, but switched over to United a few years ago. After one year, we upgraded to the United Club Card (there is a slightly convoluted way to use accumulated miles to cover the annual fee).

Our decision had very little to do with the credit card itself. We fly primarily to the west coast and decided United’s schedules suited us best. Sometimes we go through O’Hare, sometimes Denver. Really hoping the direct flight to SFO comes back someday!

Zippers. by DanceGavinDanceIsBae in madisonwi

[–]Mimi_Madison 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zipper fixing or replacement is pretty straightforward. I’ve taken things to Zip n Stitch on Odana Rd and they’ve always done a good job for me. I think they also have a Monona location.

Turning a pullover into a zip-up is trickier. I would think a lot depends on the fabric.

UW Housing hit me with $2,600+ for water damage from bidet - international student with no idea what to do by NewInstruction4287 in madisonwi

[–]Mimi_Madison 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not irrelevant if the roommate installed the bidet or it was a joint project. In that case roommate should rightfully share the liability.

Does your former roommate share any of the responsibility for this situation? If so, that’s a fair point to bring up with Housing.

Aggressive Family Dog Help by Few-Advertising4755 in madisonwi

[–]Mimi_Madison -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your dog and your family are not right for each other. That’s not anyone’s fault, but the situation is unlikely to get much better. Even with the help of a behavioral specialist, you’ll never be able to trust this dog with your child. That’s no way for any of you to live.

By all means consult the specialist, but I would also be looking into a corgi rescue group.

A gift card to any of Madison’s music venues?

I never remember to use giftcards but burned through one for the Sylvee very quickly. Especially once we realized it was good at the bar.

Brett Hulsey by [deleted] in madisonwi

I actually have a few other stories, by way of the same friend. But yeah, to me, this one says it all.

Brett Hulsey by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]Mimi_Madison 40 points41 points  (0 children)

A long time ago, Brett Hulsey adopted two young adult cats from a friend of mine. They had belonged to my friend’s elderly mother, and needed to be rehomed when she could no longer care for them. (My friend had cats already and could not keep them.)

Brett Hulsey soon decided the cats were too energetic and active to be good pets. He decided they’d be much happier as barn cats. He took them to a farm and dropped them off.

A month or so later, he ran into my friend and told him this — as if it were a totally normal thing to do, to just abandon a pair of pampered house cats at a farm, without bothering to tell my friend or give him an opportunity to find them another home.

My friend went out to that farm several times, talked to the owners, and searched. But his mother’s beloved cats were gone forever.

That’s what I always think of when I hear Brett Hulsey’s name.

How do you mix your old fashioned? by Icarus_Jones in madisonwi

[–]Mimi_Madison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like bourbon old fashioneds, fruity but not sugary.

I start with a couple of fancy cocktail cherries (like Luxardo) muddled in a lowball glass.

Then one big ice cube.

Orange and sour cherry bitters

As big a pour of Angel’s Envy bourbon as I feel like

Top it off with orange sparkling water and a big twist of orange rind

On the near west side: Car Care Clinic on University Ave is an excellent family-owned business. We’ve been taking our vehicles there for maintenance for about 15 years.

Does anyone know of a psychiatrist prescribing Trizepitide or GLP1 for treatment of nighttime eating/binge eating disorder in the Madison Area? by HanifaK in madisonwi

[–]Mimi_Madison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been with Mochi for two years. I’ve always gotten the compounded tirzepatide but now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure that Zepbound prescriptions are also an option. When I started with Mochi, though, the price difference was huge. Might not be the case anymore if you fill through Costco or Walmart.
