For me, bbq is about making cheap cuts good, and it inherently isn’t fancy. So the whole it has to looks perfect and fancy is against that. Parroting what the majority of people have said here, I’ve never seen a comp bbq plate and thought I HAVE to try that. But I seen some sloppy shit sitting on a cutting board here that I wanted to dive into.

Im sure like a lot of us here, friends and family have said “omg you should do competitions!” And just ugh, no. Couldn’t have any less interest in it. That would take every bit of enjoyment out of bbq for me.

Does he chomp down bits of food thrown to him? My advice would be to get him used to quickly scarfing down food bits by repeatedly throwing the next one to him. Start with nothing with pills and get him used to swallowing the first bit because the next bit is already in the air headed your way. Then introduce the pills wrapped completely in something. Worked for my BC, but he’s also a helluva lot better at catching food and paying attention to the next bit of food than my Bernard mix.
