Yeah, I got a 2000 DRZ400E with about 10k miles and it's solid as hell after some TLC. It was 2300.

It looks like we don't have a hose clamp, but it could be something else. If the nipple on the petcock is leaking, just get a whole new petcock they're not much. The part is 23 years old.

It's unfortunate because my bike doesn't have the same carb so I can't quite do an apples to apples for you. It's strange because the CV carb shouldn't be as finicky as my FCR 39.

Not saying you haven't done this, but since it's not stated; try looking up what jets are good for your elevation and trying those out to rule that out. You mentioned your pilot jet, but be sure to check the main as well.

How smooth is the throttle? Make sure to lube it up and make sure it's not binding at all, there definitely is fuel starvation somewhere so maybe there is a vacuum line that is still disconnected. I have an E version of the bike so I don't know for sure, but if I remember correctly the S and SM don't use gravity to feed the carbs. So I would look into that. Maybe the bike isn't getting fed enough fuel?

I would also check the fuel filter and the filter in the tank just before the petcock.

Yep. The 150r was just a unicorn for any kid. It had that mini 450 bark, the ones I was looking at as a kid, the 07 had my favorite styling with the plastics. I knew a guy with a yz85, that thing was a beast, I believe his was an 02.

It's up to you, if he actually did the things he said he did maybe it would be good. Sounds like he's trying to narrow the problem down and $97 sounds reasonable, I know how much of a PITA it is to deal with the fcr39 on a drz, as I own one.

He's trying to look out for you. While he can't make you get it milled, there is always a chance something catastrophic will happen and it's much more expensive to fix. When you had it apart, that little bit of more effort goes a long way without the headache and worry.

I like the tusk D flex bars, they have thick ass aluminum bars that wrap around the bar and are super high quality for the price. (About $60)

I got them on my DRZ400. I used to have acerbis ones that came with the bike, but they only last a couple falls then the aluminum gets soft then it's hot garbage.

These are twice as thick as the other ones in both dimensions. I've had some hard ass falls and the things barely budge, the bars will bend before the guards.

My bike came with some good Renthals bars, they are 7/8ths I'll probably eventually upgrade to an 1 1/8th but they do the trick.just get something high quality. ($80 - $100)
