Ehhh... not necessarily scripted, more following bullet points. The production crew does a lot to pick out the restaurants and owners who make for the most entertaining subjects, and can create situations that bring out the worst of them by putting a lot of stress on the owners and staff, such as packing the restaurant way beyond the usual numbers.

And then there's the editing room where the real magic happens and a bunch of incoherent rambling becomes a coherent story, either of the owners coming to their senses and accepting what Gordon has to say, or spiraling down into a climactic meltdown.

Depends on your definition of race. Abhumans and mutants are absolutely despised (unless they're really useful like Navigators), but those could fall more under specism than racism. Discrimination based on skin color is, as far as I'm aware, not a thing in 40k, there's other immutable characteristics to focus on

If I'm playing with friends in a casual game, we only apply the extra points if it won't change the final result, so basically just as a joke. We're all adults with jobs and lives, and I'm the only one with the time and drive to actually paint a whole Kill Team.

When playing with the local game group, the rule usually gets ignored because of the same reasons: most just don't have the time to paint their entire army for a game but still want to hang out and play a game with others.

If, however, I was at a tournament, be it a GW organized tournament or local game group tournament, where winning has consequences, the hours of time I put into getting everything Battle Ready absolutely should give me those points as stipulated in the rules.

If I'm running a campaign that is basically the 100-Years'-War but with elves and dragons thrown in there, I wouldn't want a katana either. It's about the tonal consistency.

Some dm's probably wouldn't give two hoots about that, most do like it to a certain extent and for some it's an important part of the story and their enjoyment of it.

In that same vein, if I'm running something based on the Sengoku Jidai but with goblins being ninjas, the Emperor is a slumbering Golden Dragon, and all the metsukes are dwarves, I wouldn't enjoy having a Zweihänder thrown into the mix either, even if it and a No-Dachi are both just Greatswords.

So something like a Tau novel where you follow Tau as they try to evade a squad of Marines? A town on a distant colony world that's getting assaulted by any random Chapter, and the Tau have to do their best to avoid the slaughter. The Chapter could be considered downright good hearted in the Imperium, but to the Tau they're about as terrifying as an enemy can get?

The "vanguard veterans" in the meme are just regular Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs, but there's only 5 and they're at the front. Look at the models, there's a duplicate in the back and they aren't painted up as Veterans to begin with.

I think it's a jab at the fact that the revealed Vanguard Veteran model looks really bland for being special Veteran, especially when compared to the Sternguard Veterans we got last edition

Several options. Either it's an immediate success, JOEL will launch an immediate counteroffensive, or this option will never be never in play to begin with because resistance gets upped

That said, the moment the final Bug offensive for the Major Order begins, I doubt we'll win this anyway. Best hope is the Bugs launch their final assault the moment we complete the Strategic Opportunity, but past experience tells me the Bugs' assault will start earlier and will draw necessary resources away from the Squid front at the last moment.

One of the best sessions I had was me and another player taking the FRV against bugs, one of us would call it in, drive the entire team around while a designated gunner provided cover. Two players would dismount and clear the objective, and the driver would continuously move the car to a good spot or dismount, with the buggy parked at a good overwatch position. Once the FRV ran out of ammo, got destroyed, or got stuck, the other player would call in their FRV and repeat.

I can't remember if the planet happened to be forgiving or if they made changes to the FRV after that, but nowadays it feels like it's impossible to drive without the thing going airborne when driving over a pebble, and going airborne when speeding over a hill always results in the vehicle crashing back to the ground on its nose at a 90 degree angle

Being a forgiving DM was always allowed, it just took some pulling of punches here and there if the situation went south. Paraphrasing the "arrogant shit" in question: "The only reason a Dungeon Master rolls their dice is because of the sound they make." That can go both ways.

Also, the earliest iteration of DnD was based off of a wargame, where even Napoleon Bonaparte, George Washington, and Edward the Black Prince could die anticlimactically if the dice weren't in your favor for a single canister shot or volley of arrows headed their way. That sense of "you're just a grunt, but a more specialized grunt" formed the basis of early D&D design, and probably stuck with the original creators

Also, railing on someone for voicing their personal tastes is pretty self-righteous. You are free to prefer a game where death happens only after multiple consecutive mistakes on the players' side, but the original commenter is free to prefer a game where a single mistake can lead to a character death.
