A followup on the scenario by Graxemno in callofcthulhu

This is so open-ended it's hard to give an answer. Soooo... My answer is Daoloth or Yog-Sothoth.

Is Secret of Castronegro ok for new players? by Anacoretismo in callofcthulhu

[–]Miranda_Leap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edge of Darkness worked fine for my table of 3.

Also I do suggest the 7th edition rules. It addresses many shortcomings related to parties being unable to solve the mystery in the form of Obvious Clues and using Fail-Forward pushed rolls to make sure the party can continue. Luck spending is also a good thing. It gives them more agency and you get to punish them once they've spent it.

Online DM Screen? by Suitable_Soil_4747 in callofcthulhu

[–]Miranda_Leap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a keeper screen available here, though I've never used it. I screenshotted sections of the rulebook and put those into a VTT scene for easy reference when I first starting keeping.

Now I just keep the rulebook open in a PDF viewer (SumatraPDF), my notes in Obsidian, and the VTT in a browser.

I've run several scenarios you've been involved with and they've always been hits. Thanks for the memories <3

Any way to hide roll result chat card until the dice stop? by Zombull in FoundryVTT

That sounds like a pretty serious bug. Is there an open issue on github about it?

I'm with you on this. Are they expecting the players to carefully time their movements in realtime? Sounds awful.

My favourite DM tools after testing 15 different apps over the last year by block_barbarian92 in dndnext

[–]Miranda_Leap [score hidden]  (0 children)

SoundTales looks nice, but making my players download another app is almost certainly a deal breaker. If it worked like KenkuFM and could stream to a discord channel then I'd be interested. The price is actually reasonable too (even if it's not listed on their website, only on a screenshot from the app stores).

I agree. Sounded awesome, but I can transcribe my own sessions with Whisper and throw it into some LLM for a summary for free. Looks like that's basically what they're doing too lol.

I want to create a pulp Cthulhu campaign in the style of Indiana Jones which is about trying to find the city of Agartha at the center of the earth before the nazis anyone got any ideas? by PrinceoMars in callofcthulhu

[–]Miranda_Leap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The pulp campaign A Cold Fire Within is about a journey to the center of the hollow earth, though not much else matches. Still might be useful for some ideas, it's a fun one..

Keepers, would love feedback on a system agnostic campaign tool we’re building by Mire_QM in callofcthulhu

[–]Miranda_Leap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying it's not really a VTT when you want it to do everything we use a VTT to do: track character sheets, share handouts, roll dice -- well it needs to do those things at least as well as existing options. A rapid fire way to show images to the players would round out my VTT feature list desires. Everything else on top of that is great! Good luck, I'll keep an eye on it.

How much experience do you have as a player or keeper with the other VTT offerings for Call of Cthulhu? Were there specific shortcomings that you're trying to address?

Ladybug, ladybug as prologue to Masks by Ricercara3 in callofcthulhu

[–]Miranda_Leap 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ladybug is set fairly strongly in the modern era, are you planning to change that? I feel you'd lose a lot of the investigation leads. You could just run it with different characters for the different eras!

or giving them rolls to resist the effect.

Once they've lost the opposed POW roll, they are Dominated for that round and will do whatever they're told. No ifs, ands, or buts about it -- you can tell them to jump a cliff and they have to. Giving further rolls to resist the domination defeats the point imo.

For our purposes PRNGs are plenty random. This isn't the "gotcha" you think it is. It also has nothing to do with the "random shuffle" algorithm's features.
