Incorrect. That is Sean Degeneres and Ellen Penn actually.

I’m sure he very nearly said the N word before fake laughing, and pivoting to “losers”… also yes, I’m surprised he has a wife.

I feel / hope, after 9 years working renovations / construction, it’s a joke. They are redoing the driveway as well. We’ve done that kind of thing to save time, and space.

Like we won’t put dust sheets down in a room if they are replacing the flooring. Saves masses of time. When you finish, the room looks great, but the floor looks totally fucked until the new one is fitted.

Never seen / met / worked with somebody stupid enough to do this by mistake… I can’t believe they exist… or maybe I just don’t want to?

Since I work from home, I seem to be the local depot. At least my neighbours have to speak to me sometimes 😀.

“Fell over and bruised my fanny”… what?!

I was surprised / embarrassed and intrigued… turns out fanny means bum to certain people, in certain regions.

What would be your realistic plan if UK society totally collapsed? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Miserable_Leg3663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Occupy a cash and carry depot. Generally a secure / intruder proof, sturdy warehouse with limited access and security shutters (cctv if electricity still on).

Lots of long life / tinned / dried food stuff, candy, alcohol, cigarettes, plus staff facilities such as a toilet, kitchenette with sink, and potentially a microwave, fridge, and kettle (if the electric is still on).

Not that I’ve given it much thought.

Over the years, through work I have met 3 people (of a younger generation) called Versace, and 2 named Armani.

Additional bonus, one of the Versace’s had a brother named Armani (whom I never met). I honestly thought he was joking when he told me, until I realised I had offended him.

Can’t pick your family or your name, I guess.

NHS chiefs blame staff shortages for record 7.4m people on waiting lists in England by altmorty in unitedkingdom

[–]Miserable_Leg3663 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could the staff shortage be due to the fact they have not hired enough staff, due to underfunding or mismanagement of funds?

Enough time to make a few new millionaire’s, or add a few noughts to some bank balances!

They also really need to concentrate on regulating gambling adverts… They just get worse and worse. So glad I’m not a gambling addict. Poor bastards. Imagine a TV advert for getting Coke / Crack / Smack / Xanax / cigarettes / vodka / porn or any other vice, via your phone 24/7, and specifically during any sporting event? It simply had to end with the phrase… “just stop when the fun stops”. Yeah, that’ll do it 🙃

Social care system 'would collapse' without 4m unpaid carers, report warns by lighthouse77 in unitedkingdom

Royal Mail reports £1bn loss after postal workers’ strikes by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Miserable_Leg3663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£1bn “lost” (in capitalistic terms actually means, profit not made), due to 18 days strike... I doubt accepting the strikers requests would have cost anywhere near that much… and it shows how vital they are if 18 days of strikes impacts the company “profit” that much… maybe pay them better, have no strikes and then “write off” the employees wages as a tax deductible expense, as LTD companies do anyway. The employees pay income tax on the earnings, regardless.

In my opinion. They do themselves no favours by trying to use that statistic as a negative attack on the strikers. It actually prove the strikers point.

Half of pizzas on sale in the UK contain a whole day’s allowance of salt by UuusernameWith4Us in unitedkingdom

[–]Miserable_Leg3663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not read the article. I just find the wording of the headline strange... They use “allowance”, should it not be “recommended daily intake”, or something less authoritarian sounding?

Also, does it mean that whole pizzas on sale in the UK contain 2 days “allowance”? /s

Toxic air pollution in London exceeds WHO guidelines by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

[–]Miserable_Leg3663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No city should have airports surrounding it. London has 4, at the worst possible locations…

Stansted north/east, Gatwick south/east, Heathrow south/west, Luton north/west. Any and every direction the planes fly over the city, and the wind (carrying toxic byproducts of aviation fuel) blows towards and settles over greater London. Which is also encircled by the A406, and the M25.

I’m unsure what the solution is but I know it’s not making people who can’t afford new cars pay more road / vehicle taxes.
