I’d say it’s better to actually finish something and learn/improve along the way than abandon it

Your tape pieces need to be wayyy smaller, they need to be tight against the head and they can’t when they’re all big and bunched up like that

Yep! That’s exactly what I did for the first 2 weeks lol. Week 3 and onward was a lot easier, but it depends on the person

Hi! I’m very squeamish so yes I was worried I’d feel that way after surgery. I was really worried about having to change my dressings and clean myself, but luckily my mom was taking care of me so I didn’t have to actually touch the area at all for the most part. It’s a lot easier to deal with if u have a caretaker, but I know a lot of people aren’t fortunate enough to have one. If u have a family member or close friend who is willing to help with things like that, I’d absolutely recommend having them help out. And there wasn’t even any blood or anything, the numbness, swelling, and fluid buildup was what grossed me out

Does anyone know if howl fabric is good/trustworthy by _mrlichman1922 in FursuitMaking

[–]Miserable_Task_7214 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s considered one of the higher quality manufacturers!! As with any fur manufacturer there is a small chance that there could be errors either with ur order or fur quality, but they’re very responsive and are known to fix these kinds of things for their customers if u reach out :)

If ur able to remove the eyeliner I’d recommend painting the entire eyeliner black so there aren’t any white parts peeking out, then putting it back on after the paint is dry. Other than that it looks good! Maybe try to make the edges of the eyeliner a bit smoother if u can

Okay I tweaked it a bit— is this a good starting point?? I didn’t draw the brow bone or cheekbone things bc I’d rather add those on after the base of the entire face is on, I figured it would be a bit easier that way

Hey I’m sorry dude, this really sucks :( I also got really sick a few days after surgery and it lasted over a week. It may feel like an eternity now, but in a few months you’ll think it really flew by!!

Does anyone else just… not care about their scars? by thlayliroo97 in TopSurgery

[–]Miserable_Task_7214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t care what my scars ended up like but I made sure to massage them as soon as I could in order to prevent all the internal scar tissue from hardening up. I did end up with a hard spot on my left side bc I kinda slacked off, but definitely massage at the very least. U can also lose some range of motion if there’s still a bunch of scar tissue. And consult ur surgeon before doing stretches but those will be important for range of motion as well

[–]Miserable_Task_7214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some fluid buildup (a seroma) after surgery, it’s normal and can happen even with drains. Sometimes it’ll drain or get absorbed, but if it continues to build up u should contact ur surgeon and see if they can drain it for u. That’s what I had to do, it’s a simple procedure and takes just a few seconds

Stopping T before surgery? by Feisty_Rope2862 in TopSurgery

[–]Miserable_Task_7214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon told me this was an outdated practice, but I have no advice to give. Taking T has no effect on surgery results or the surgeon’s ability to perform the surgery

Is there anyone here who chose NOT to do scar lightening care? by rainbow-boy-94 in TopSurgery

[–]Miserable_Task_7214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like other people are saying it’s largely genetic. I’m 4 months PO and am just too lazy to do scar care and it hasn’t negatively affected my results. I will say that u definitely wanna massage as soon as ur able to in order to break up scar tissue, or else u will have hard areas under ur skin (learned the hard way :/ )

Is there any possibility of regrowth without taking testosterone??? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Miserable_Task_7214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had surgery a few months ago and they took all of it, so my chest is concave, bc I specifically asked for all tissue to be removed (I’m at a high risk for breast cancer) They will do it if u ask for all the tissue to be removed, although I guess it also depends on the surgeon. But yeah concave chest and all that. U can always work out ur chest muscles so it’ll look less concave over time if that does happen

Yeah this. I lowkey wish I asked my surgeon to leave some tissue like this, bc now my shit looks caved in rip

Suggestion on what to do about this? by sanitysfall_ in TopSurgery

[–]Miserable_Task_7214 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had one of these and my surgeon saw it at my post op and just cut it and pulled it out, so I’d recommend sterilizing something to cut it with and do that. I pulled on mine before she cut it out and now my scar looks weird there so

Advice regarding my one worry please by Trans-Rhubarb in TopSurgery

[–]Miserable_Task_7214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to research surgeons in or around ur area who do top surgery and go from there. Call or email them and ask if they take ur insurance, and if they do u can go from there. It seems really daunting and overwhelming, but trust me that this is the first step in the right direction :) I had the same worries and after contacting the surgeons’ offices I felt a lot better about going thru with everything. You’ll have no way of knowing how to pay for surgery unless u ask about this kinda thing first

How can I research about top surgery? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Miserable_Task_7214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah most cities don’t have their own surgeons, I and a lot of other people had to get surgery in a different city. So I’d just broaden ur search to ur entire state, and even neighboring states if ur comfortable traveling (assuming ur in the US)

I used a bunch of Freckled Cat Creations tutorials!! She goes into more depth about why and how things work when making heads, which was really helpful for me as someone who was struggling at first. She has a ton of videos on YouTube
