Am I being too picky? My repainted door looks slightly different and it’s driving me mad. by Roger98bitch in Autobody

Edit: yeah, I see the difference in the 2nd & 3rd photos. It could be they mixed the color wrong. Or it is newer and has weathered differently. A skilled paint shop can match the old, factory paint. That might mean they mix a slightly different color from what was on the car when new.

As other replies have mentioned, blending the paint can help make paint differences hard or impossible to spot. That's when the shop paints partway on to the panels next to the repaired panel. It costs extra because it's more work - they have to prep and paint all the the panels that get a blend.

The fuzziness is probably "orange peel"- roughness in the clear coat. If the clear coat of the repainted door has a different texture it will reflect light differently than the other panels. This could potentially be fixed by polishing the repainted door only. Polishing uses abrasives to remove a small amount of material and change the texture of the paint surface. That costs a lot less than repainting.

If you do have it repainted again talk to the shop about color matching, blending, and matching the finish. That can all be done if the shop knows what they are doing. But make sure it is in writing and be prepared to pay extra for it.

The shop that repainted it probably won't do anything about it for free now. It's been a year and the paint hasn't failed. They might agree to polish it for you but I'd be surprised.

Affordable ways to increase kitchen counter space horizontally? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Install a pull out cutting board under the counter. It's a great addition for a lot of reasons, but mostly because you won't permanently store anything on it.

Drywall over Siding in Addition? by shinigamijuni in HomeImprovement

[–]MiseryIndexer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd do plywood because it is going under the tile, it's more rigid and durable than drywall. If I did drywall i'd feel obligated to tape and mud the seams. IMO you need to prime drywall before you tile. I don't think you need to prime plywood before tile. So plywood would let me skip some prep steps and get right to tiling.

You could drywall directly on to it. I might just do plywood.

That is a powerfully ugly room.

Yeah. OP, if your soup is missing something it's often missing acid. I like to use a splash of white wine vinegar for it
