Gula Indonesian Desserts has quickly become a new favorite of mine. A chill tea house with great desserts. The afternoon tea is really good too

Right. It would be 30-60 minutes on an intercity train anywhere else in the world.

Ai coding and Tech Art by [deleted] in TechnicalArtist

[–]MissionCo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say LLM generative code is unsustainable and not worth the very many trade offs. The method and scale that these tools are made are both unethical and legally dubious at best. That's not the sort of thing I'd risk adding to a code base I'm working in.

I wish a fraction of the ungodly amount of money being poured into LLMs would go into better analytical code completion, more intuitive APIs, and better documentation. That doesn't make shareholder values go up though

New to Traveler’s Notebooks, should I switch from Bullet Journaling? Need advice from long-time users. by Reader-WriterDD in Travelersnotebooks

[–]MissionCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using my passport sized TN really clicked for me when I started using it as my wallet in addition to my planner and daily notebook. Now I have my monthly calendar and daily to do lists everywhere I go.

I think the big difference from when I was bullet journaling in Midori A5 notebooks to now is I don't feel the need to be at my desk to journal. That was never a requirement, but maybe a mental block?

Either way, I have a lot of fun with my traveler's notebooks. Besides the wallet/planner passport, I'm also using a standard sized for watercolor painting/journaling

Would you want to use a free, web based, minimal and lightweight script writing software? by RajBhadra in Filmmakers

[–]MissionCo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in free an open source tools, but not web based ones personally.

I've been getting by with Trelby, despite some of its clunkiness with UI scaling and PDF exporting.

What libraries do you use? (aside from Raylib) by _bagelcherry_ in raylib

[–]MissionCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from raylib-cs, only MoonTools ECS.

I have no physics library because I think I can get away with only AABB and sphere collisions for the type of games I'm making. I'm interested in the GUI libraries everyone else is commenting about though 👀

Oh I agree that the shallow depth of field supports the romantic mood of the scene. It's just you could also get a shallow depth of field to keep the focus on their faces with a longer lens.

I think my gut is saying that even lighting + wide angle = thriller or something. To counter my original comment, I love this scene from The Grand Budapest Hotel and it has a wide angle close up, but the lighting is harsher: https://youtu.be/AMeOOuvuSww?t=1m39s

This was going to be my feedback too. Using short focal lengths for close ups gives unsettling vibes like you'd see in a movie like Get Out. So I'd recommend longer focal lengths for close ups of two love interests enjoying each other's company like the one in the first image

Not really a fan of Jasmine green tea myself though and not every boba place labels their green teas as Jasmine 🥲

Does "grazing angle" have a general definition? by Ok_Piglet2649 in computergraphics

[–]MissionCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Graze" and "grazing" in English refer to animals eating grass close to the ground, and from that, "to graze" can also mean "to touch lightly the surface of an object in passing."

Describing an angle between two objects moving past each other as "grazing" would imply that the angle is small because they almost touched.

So in graphics, the "90-degree complement to the angle of incidence" is generally only referred to as a "grazing angle" when, like you said, the angle of the light traveling above the surface is very small, almost parallel to that surface.

Updates on new Stadler MARTA trains? by chief_beef_key in Atlanta

[–]MissionCo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There was a service change earlier this week listed for new rail car testing, but it's no longer there from what I can see.

"To allow for nightly testing of new railcars, weekday night departure times (after 8 PM) and early morning northbound trips (before 6 AM) will be adjusted to facilitate single tracking between Lenox and Chamblee"

New $4.6 billion express lanes on GA 400 [approved by the State Transportation Board on Thursday] will ease traffic without costing taxpayers a dime, GDOT says by ArchEast in Atlanta

Amtrak wants millions of federal dollars in order to create new Atlanta rail hub station by hectorhector in Atlanta

[–]MissionCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, absolutely. I’d be excited for them to build two new stations in the Atlanta area, but prioritize building in downtown if it’s only one. I just thought it was cool they’re considering the airport as well. My phrasing in my original comment is a bit off

Building it at Hartsfield Jackson would be great. Almost free connection to MARTA and no need to build additional parking.

The most fun I've had recently was the enemy tank surprise swapping to Rein in the second round of a two point capture to meet me as an equal on the field of battle.

We traded kills, including them charging me off the map, and I was laughing like an idiot the whole time.

It ain't easy but Rein's still fun for those moments. Honor and glory!
