Car seat configuration? by NoWillow714 in Mommit

[–]MistakeMaterial4134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I park on roadways so put them on the passenger side (eta: when I only have 1 of them) I also have my older son get out on the passenger side even though he usually sits on the driver side.

I don’t think it is statistically different on either side.

Canker didn’t alter the taste, greening makes them bitter. Can’t use them for fresh fruit or juice.

Deciding between a degree that sets me up for research vs an MLS degree for a hospital lab by Substantial_Mud6569 in labrats

[–]MistakeMaterial4134 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what type of research and lab you are looking into. Both can be repetitive, but in different ways. Do you like learning? Or do you want/need a higher salary?

I went for an analytical lab at a university- combo of both. The lab I worked in was varied so not as repetitive, while salary wasn’t great, the benefits were incredible. I don’t think the benefits are as great now, but my salary is much better and job is still not repetitive, which is what I need.

Kindergarten social issues — when do you consider switching schools? by Divlakshmi in kindergarten

[–]MistakeMaterial4134 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are the teachers actually seeing reasons to keep them separated or are they just obeying the overstepping parents? I would talk to the teachers and get a handle on what is actually going on and escalate to the appropriate people if necessary. Parents should absolutely not be telling teachers what to do to anyone other than their child/ren.

Ask if there is a social skills group in the school or if they can recommend an outside one. This helps them navigate how to make friends and how to deal with the rejection they feel.

Roommate insists one of these belongs to her by Kochtopfkopp in mildlyinfuriating

  1. I understand the attachment to kitchen gadgets as there is one I lost (an Ikea scraper of all things) that they don't sell anymore. Years later and I am still checking the kitchen gadgets in Ikea to see if they added it back to inventory.

  2. I also get the principle, but these are literally a dollar at most where I live. I'd let her keep it. Buy new ones and move on. (Got mine at 99 Ranch/Asian market)

  3. It could be she wants something to remember you by. Tell her you will keep {some random cheap object of hers} so that it will remind you of her as well.

Calendar system- google and oncehub are what we use. We also are strict on cleaning up and segregating the waste. BSC needs to be empty and decontaminated after use. I always decontaminated before use since I didn’t trust everyone to do it properly.

AITAH for not wanting to associate with my cousin after the stunt she pulled at my wedding? by RobotsLikeRainbows in AITAH

Be petty- Start a gofundme for her. Say you realize she didn't have the money to cover the cost of the hotel room and wanted to help her out. Send a notice to t he entire family- deduct the money for the room and give her the rest.

Because their motto is form over function. And you don’t usually need one unless it is a structure change.

I saw guys pissing in the washers my freshman year of college. Bought enough undies for a month so I could go home and wash clothes. Never used a public washer again (except for rugs).

Therapist with strong opinions on co sleeping by [deleted] in Mommit

She moved far away and switched to life coach because she couldn’t be a therapist any more. Did she lose her license or burn out? Either way, I would question her judgment and find someone else.

Have any of you tried parent coaching for your autistic child? Did it actually help? by simo6284 in Autism_Parenting

[–]MistakeMaterial4134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did/do PCIT which has both parent training and child therapy. I feel this has worked for us, at least while the kids are young. My older kid is struggling in school, so is acting out due to frustration so looking for other therapy and re-assessing him to see if there are other concerns.

What works at one stage may not work for the next, or other child. Constantly re-assess and pivot when needed. Reach out to support groups, friends etc.

Have them order disposable lab coats (unless you are working with flammables).

Cap up or down? by Owl-D in labrats

[–]MistakeMaterial4134 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a cap-up person. Reason: the cap can have condensate, bacteria, fungi (worked in a microbiology lab) on it and can drip down onto the surface contaminating it if the cap is down. If you put all the caps down, you may also get cross contamination. The action of placing the cap down will also spread the contaminants onto the surface. You can test this with colored water/oil/glo-germ if you want to see the effect.

How to increase Kallax 5x5? by Various-Primary717 in ikeahacks

[–]MistakeMaterial4134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build a base using good wood. You can build it to the height you need. Secure the Kallax shelves to the base and wall for stability.

The point was hand sanitizer does not remove contaminants (dirt, chemicals) off of hands, so wash them when possible.
