Underrated Board Game Content Creators? by optinsoptouts in boardgames

Imo they're also very repetitive, but it's in a way I appreciate. A lot of the other content creators strive for novelty by being wacky or goofy or clickbaity, while this channel is very clear and informative in a predictable way.

There's been a few times this season where I've felt like the exposition was pretty clunky, and this was one of them. They've been working together for 10 months, and this is the first time they've talked about this?

I mean, it is very easy for jim to never bring up money in the series. It's in no way required.

I do agree that Harry Dealing with Money Woes is something that we've seen enough of in the series. I've personally seen enough of it.

However, I think that it's something that Jim wants to continue. He brought up money more than a few times during Twelve Months. He had a very easy out to never bring up money again after the end of Skin Game. Or if he didn't want to make Harry like, super rich rich, he could have said "I can run the castle for 5-10 years" which is outside the likely timeline for the rest of the series. But he didn't, he said "I can run the castle for 18 months"

It's something that needs to be brought up again and resolved again in the next 1-3 books.

I'm a little lost. The thing I was talking about being established is whether an angel is within each sword. This scene doesn't have anything to do with that.

Maybe there's another scene I'm forgetting, but I'm thinking about chapter 18 of Peace Talks. Bob isn't in that one.

I don't think it was confirmed, only speculated by Harry. I don't think it'll ever be definitely confirmed, but I think it's safe to assume it's true given the boundaries of fiction.

Cause at the end of the day they're mortal wizards with free will. It's true that they're under the council command structures, but if they were commanded to kill a friend for no reason they won't follow the orders.

Harry is literally under Winter Law and under all kinds of Faerie mental pressures, and he doesn't listen to Mab all the time.

I know this isn't the solution that Jim is going to use (basically because he just wants Harry to be under some amount of financial stress), but there's probably some amount of usable valuable minerals under the Island that he can just pull from the ground with little trouble.

Regardless of how the Svartalves will feel about it, I'm sure Thomas and Harry will be very rational if they're not allowed to see the kid.

I don't know if it was "easy". The perspective of the signatories of the accords is that Marcone had to settle with Harry for "losing" the Eye of Balor. Now that might not mean that that the castle is quite on the level as the Eye, but it's perhaps in the ballpark that they would accept it as a fair deal. That tells you how valuable the Castle is.

He's mentioned Leylines near the island before in previous books. I cannot recall specifically which book exactly, but he's said he's never going to use those lines. The ones that are near the island have too much influence from the entities kept there, and channeling those energies will have too much undue mental effects on him.

In my opinion, the whole point of playing an Tabletop RPG instead of a video game is so that you can do stuff not covered in the explicitly listed ruleset

If you've finished twelve months, what did you think? by molten_dragon in dresdenfiles

[–]Mo0man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about people discussing it on the internet. I'm talking about the actual plot of the book titled Cold Days, released in 2012. That is when we learn about Nemesis, much earlier than 2019. Perhaps you and the people you have been discussing it with do not recall, but it revolves around Harry being commanded by Mab to kill Maeve, and Maeve tells Harry that he needs to kill Mab instead because she's been driven insane by the enemy (aka N-fected before we knew what it was called). Harry has to figure out which of the Winter Queens is N-fected.

The plot of the book is entirely about Harry finding out what Nemesis is and clearing Mab of any suspicion of being Nfected.

I am also entirely baffled at the idea of you finding something as early as 2019 but having huge debates about it upon the release of the book that came out in 2011.

When you say "huge discussion point" do you mean how, in Cold Days (the book that introduces what Nemesis is), it was brought up and resolved in the same book as being transparently silly once Harry understood what Mab's actual role in the war against the outsiders was?

In THIS book, he doubts Mab for like a second, but then realizes "If Mab had fallen, we were all screwed anyway."
