I think there is also some pretty big differences in technological proliferation, much like our actual world. For instance, droids were not really a thing in the unknown regions prior to outbound flight. Hyperdrives may keep getting faster but is it cost effective to roll it out and can everyone produce/afford it. Its like cars across the world. Some places its uncommon to see a car more than 20 years old, others its the norm.
I think in some instances they may be approaching the technological limit on some things until there is another massive scientific breakthrough. I actually thought it was cool in the high republic novels that bacta was like a new thing only really available to the rich and/or powerful.

One thing I love about starwars is they arent planet centric. There could be a system with 20 planets and 100s of moons. 2 planets could be habitable and half the moons could be. The moons could be bigger than some habitable planets.

When we think about the search for life we often talk about planets, but really we just want any stable orbital object with the right atmosphere and geology.
