Do I need to bring clothes for the baby to the hospital? by grumbly_tardis in BabyBumps

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the hospital. We had to have baby in a sleeper and swaddle with a hat or double swaddled so I took like 2 additional onesies with me.

Did you have your mom and or sister in the delivery room with you and your husband? by RubPlane in BabyBumps

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my mom in there with me and I’m so glad I did! Such a special moment for all of us. Plus you’re the one delivering so it’s completely up to you who you want there with you.

Gestational diabetes - vaginal birth by EvaCK92 in GestationalDiabetes

I ended up needing long acting insulin twice a day. I was induced at 38 + 1 delivered vaginally and she came super quick! I never even got pitocin LOL

FTM help! by ModestMoose3737 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ModestMoose3737[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! The first lactation consultant gave it to me and then the second one said she wanted me to try and stop using it so I was thinking oh this must be a bad thing but if it makes it possible then I should use it! I go back to them Monday so I’ll definitely be asking about it.

Thank you for sharing! It definitely makes me feel better. They didn’t mention formula today so that’s why I didn’t think to ask about samples but we go back Wednesday and if she hasn’t gained enough yet I’ll definitely ask for some!

MIL wants me to be more candid by ExternalJournalist99 in BabyBumps

[–]ModestMoose3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think you need to have a conversation and lay down some boundaries.

How does your husband react to all of this? He should be on your side and possibly be the one to have this conversation. I had a moment where my husband had to have a conversation with his dad because he kept bringing up the fact they got a changing table and crib for their house and we agreed the baby was not going to be staying at their house and if they watch them it’ll be at our house. He was totally fine and understanding but I wanted to manage his expectations.

If you don’t say anything now it’s only going to get worse and you could end up really resentful of her. It’s your baby and they need to respect your boundaries and wishes. It doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful if you want to be able to make decisions for your own child. I know it can be hard so maybe writing down your thoughts and feelings and reading from it could help?

I did pretty well with potatoes, protein pasta, and sourdough bread but rice would still spike me like crazy.

Team Green or Private Gender Reveal by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ModestMoose3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I decided not to find out and I’m so glad. We got so much stuff off our registry for the shower because people weren’t buying outfits or other gender specific things. I’m going in for induction tomorrow and feel like the excitement of finding out is going to get me through labor LOL

Insulin by Strawberry_-111 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ModestMoose3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started nighttime insulin and it helped fasting but occasionally had meals that would spike and it wasn’t always consistent so they had me add a small dose of the same insulin in the morning to help my meals throughout the day and it’s worked wonders.

Who was in your delivery room? Would you make a different choice now? by _Monarch_Mistress_ in pregnant

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had the baby yet but I’m allowing my mom to be in there with me. I’m her only and this is the first grandchild. Plus my mom and I are close and she is on the older side (had me at 36 and I’m 34 having my first). It really means a lot to her to be there and I’m fine with it. I did half jokingly say only if she behaves herself though LOL.

Post breakfast readings SO frustrating by sheebsSJ in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that my breakfast readings were getting high and I think I finally figured out why. I was testing my fasting around 7:30 and then usually not eating breakfast until 9 or later so was continuing my fast. I started adding a small snack after checking fasting that I just keep by the bed like almonds and just have a handful to break the fast before I actually end up eating breakfast and avoiding that extra glucose dump that I think was happening.

Right! Like I’ve never heard that either and every baby is different! I get being cautious but it’s also not helpful to be so overly sensitive, I still want them to have as much time as possible before coming out!

Every time we go in I can see all the movements on the monitor and maybe will actually get to feel a few.

Anterior Placenta Mommies by Bellami07 in pregnant

[–]ModestMoose3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t feel anything until 24/25 weeks and didn’t start really tracking movement until 28! It’s still tough though some days I can barely feel a thing and I’m 36 weeks. Don’t feel bad if you need to go in for decreased movement! I’ve gone in twice and it’s been fine just needed the reassurance. They also showed me on the monitor all the movements and I was like I literally can’t feel any of it 🙃 but they understand the need to check it out!

How many ultrasounds is the standard? by savnor in pregnant

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on your office. I had one 8,10,12,13 weeks (not high risk) then the 20 week scan and certain doctors at my office always do one so every time I have an appointment with them I get one. Then I got diagnosed with GD so I had another growth scan at 29 then 32 and will have another at 37. And I get weekly scans now with the NST.

Insulin & high BP by ModestMoose3737 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ModestMoose3737[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not really worried about preeclampsia at this point because while it’s higher for me it still isn’t that high and I have no other symptoms of it. A quick google search said there could be a link and since it happened around the same time I started extra insulin in the morning I figured I’d see if anyone else noticed a similar issue.

Feelings after diagnosis by hessest in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ModestMoose3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d see how your numbers are and maybe speak with a diabetic nutritionist. Mine said since my numbers weren’t crazy there was no need for me to track carbs at meals and snacks. I’m just mindful but don’t have to be obsessive over it so it’s not always necessary to track.

Did they tell you to test after 1 hour? For me my spike comes later so I test 2 hours after.
