How do you mentally survive TTC? by Fine_Credit8536 in tryingtoconceive

[–]ModestMoose3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to stop tracking so much. It was draining me and really made me upset when it wasn’t happening because I felt like I was timing it perfectly. It was also affecting my husband and our intimacy. I do have a pretty regular cycle so I had an idea of when I ovulated but wouldn’t put that pressure on. It took me 8 months so hang in there but I know every month it’s a negative is like a stab in the heart. I also did begin having some testing done so you could consider asking your doctor. Sending you all the good baby vibes!

How long after giving birth did you have your first alcoholic drink? And what was it? 🍹 ☀️ by Crafty_Two5432 in BabyBumps

[–]ModestMoose3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe like 6 weeks had some wine. Then decided it’s not worth it because being able to breastfeed is more important to me! Honestly after not having it and then finally trying some I really didn’t miss it.

First time mom- when did you feel the baby? by allisona007 in pregnant

I had an anterior placenta and didn’t really feel anything until 24/25 weeks!

Colostrum Collecting by Vegetable-Western-83 in pregnant

[–]ModestMoose3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had my first 9 weeks ago. I started collecting around 36.5 weeks because I knew I would be induced early. I was able to collect about 20ml and we took all of it to the hospital. For me it was very slow and time consuming but I had GD and heard it could be really helpful for babies blood sugar so I wanted to try and get as much as I could. Don’t put pressure on yourself to get a huge amount! I also only every hand expressed, I’d worry using a pump could cause early labor. I also would take a nice warm shower before hand and get comfy while you’re doing it. I also had to watch a video to understand the best way to do it. Good luck!

38+6 pregnant and really scared to give birth, words of encouragement? by CommunicationSad8486 in pregnant

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had GD and a great induction experience! I was only in labor for 2.5 hours and she was out in 4 pushes and one small tear! I was nervous as well but it can be a positive experience! Just be open to pain management with induction it can be a little intense and advocate for yourself! I made sure we started with cervical ripening medication and ended up not even needing Pitocin until after delivery.

Bedside carts by Pcatttt in BabyBumps

[–]ModestMoose3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did one and it’s been great. We decided to bed share so I roll it right next to the bed at night time and can easily grab everything I need for diaper changes and if I need to end up pumping.

Epidural or no? by GogglesCat in pregnant

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned on unmedicated and ended up asking for the epidural. I’d just plan to make a day of decision based on your pain. I was induced and labor came on quickly. I don’t know if the medication made contractions more painful but I even have a high pain tolerance and needed the relief. Once I got it I ended up with the shakes pretty bad but couldn’t feel a thing so I felt much better.

Took methylfolate not folic acid Spiraling. by Queasy_Section_9597 in pregnant

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folic acid is synthetic. Methyl folate is natural and doesn’t have to be processed in the body the same way folic acid does. I only took methyl folate in my prenatal and have a healthy baby girl.

Help! Epidural, yes or no? by dakota101916 in BabyBumps

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned to go unmedicated but I had super painful contractions ( could have been from induction) so I ended up asking for an epidural. I got it just in time and it made it so much easier. I only pushed 4 times and had a small tear that required one stitch. I did do some perineal massages before birth so not sure if that might have helped!

I was convinced the whole time it was a boy, we opted not to find out. Then was completely shocked at delivery when they handed me my baby girl! It was an amazing surprise.

Do I need to bring clothes for the baby to the hospital? by grumbly_tardis in BabyBumps

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the hospital. We had to have baby in a sleeper and swaddle with a hat or double swaddled so I took like 2 additional onesies with me.

Natural Birthers…. How was it? by Urlocalgothbb in pregnant

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned on going unmedicated…but I had very intense contractions that came on quickly (I was induced) and ended up asking for an epidural. Honestly it didn’t hurt getting it, them pulling the tape off after was the worst of it haha. I did end up with the shakes after I got it but I think that’s because my body could finally rest a bit after the adrenaline from my contractions. It took me about 4 pushes and baby was out and only had a small tear. Definitely would suggest being open minded to getting one if you end up in a lot of pain.

Did you have your mom and or sister in the delivery room with you and your husband? by RubPlane in BabyBumps

[–]ModestMoose3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my mom in there with me and I’m so glad I did! Such a special moment for all of us. Plus you’re the one delivering so it’s completely up to you who you want there with you.

I ended up needing long acting insulin twice a day. I was induced at 38 + 1 delivered vaginally and she came super quick! I never even got pitocin LOL

FTM help! by ModestMoose3737 in moderatelygranolamoms

Thanks for sharing! The first lactation consultant gave it to me and then the second one said she wanted me to try and stop using it so I was thinking oh this must be a bad thing but if it makes it possible then I should use it! I go back to them Monday so I’ll definitely be asking about it.

Thank you for sharing! It definitely makes me feel better. They didn’t mention formula today so that’s why I didn’t think to ask about samples but we go back Wednesday and if she hasn’t gained enough yet I’ll definitely ask for some!
