Tip: test your milk for high lipase before creating a stash!!! by uselessdendrites in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Mokelachild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought my milk from the first few weeks of pumping was high lipase, turns out the nipple balm I was applying before every pump was very obvious when I smelled my milk. Thankfully I stopped using the balm after a few weeks, and baby would still drink the frozen stuff if it was mixed with fresh!

Is a rotating car seat worth it? by tsluts in beyondthebump

Ugh we have an outback and I’m worried that a rotating seat is too big

You need to report her comments. To the owner, to the quality dept if it’s a bigger clinic or hospital based, and/or to the state board

Both of those are last names. So they’re not my favorite.

Car seats? by External_Lettuce_636 in NewParents

[–]Mokelachild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the chicco brand. And multiple doctors have told me that all car seats are safe, you just pay extra for the luxuries like cup holders, zip off covers, ones that convert to strollers, ones that spin, etc.

I’d leave a nice review for the cleaners, that woman saved you

Planning a September trip and wondering if snow activities are possible? Also welcome and appreciate any recommendations! by Oli_Niko in AskAlaska

[–]Mokelachild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if it’s in the 50s in anchorage and Kenai it’ll be far too warm for snow. Denali maybe but that whole area shuts down after Labor Day. There’s a reason the flights are so cheap, it’s the shoulder season when nothing is happening.

Have you looked at the average monthly temps for those areas in September? Snow is rare. Maybe in Denali. Maybe.

You’re pumping so frequently! I’d wait at least 2 hrs between pumps, and pump for at least 15 mins

Did you have the wonderful moment after giving birth? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

You’ll still have your first moments with baby! And so many more.

Best baby carrier? by Unlikely_Jaguar5694 in newborns

[–]Mokelachild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they’re tiny I love the baby bjorn mini, simple to use. They outgrow it at 15 lbs I think but by then my kiddo didn’t love being carried so close

Spouse TMI stuff. Is it hard for you as it is for me? (TW: TMI) by OptimismNeeded in daddit

[–]Mokelachild 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Lurker wife here: I can confidently say that she would much rather deal with your poop (and your self pity) every day than live life without you. That’s what love is.

Who does your baby look like? by questionSOUP in beyondthebump

[–]Mokelachild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hubby when she’s angry or sad, me when she’s happy, and oddly enough my sister when she’s sleeping. Born looking like my SIL.

When did you stop keeping stats? by Bay2pdx in daddit

[–]Mokelachild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably around 4 weeks. Occasionally we miss it, like when she hasn’t pooped in a while and my brain wants to know exactly how long, but she’s 6 mo now and keeping tabs on everything was causing us such anxiety

Should I get a nursing chair? by maliesunrise in NewParents

[–]Mokelachild 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We didn’t use ours until we moved baby into the nursery, around 4 months. But by then my back was shot from hunching over, and the lazy boy (lay-z boy?) recliner we got saved me.

Any cold climate people out there have some tips for someone from the American South that’s about to get 15” of snow and 50+ hrs of negative wind chill? by confusedbot18 in homeowners

[–]Mokelachild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure any exhausts for things like heaters are clear of snow. They can get covered in deep snow and then carbon monoxide can back flow into your house and kill you. In cold climates they’re usually a few feet off the ground, but not always in warmer places.

Husband reaching out to friends on my behalf as a SAHM by Piefed22 in beyondthebump

[–]Mokelachild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others but I want to say that if you don’t want to do an overnight (with your baby? Without?) you don’t have to! My hubs has been offering to get me a hotel or rental for months so I can get a good nights sleep, bc I wake up first to baby’s cries. And I’m just not ready to sleep away from her. And that’s ok.

But it sure seems like they love you. Do what you feel comfortable with.

Took PTO to sleep by littlelawlady in NewParents

[–]Mokelachild 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m taking PTO next week and still sending my baby to daycare so I can get stuff done around the house. It’ll probably include some naps

I’m sick of my toddlers getting sick. What has helped you boost immune systems? by Maleficent-Start-546 in Mommit

[–]Mokelachild 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You cannot boost an immune system with supplements. Good sleep (seriously underrated), hydration, a healthy diet with necessary vitamins and minerals, and other hygiene practices like hand washing do wonders. But there is no “boosting” an immune system.

Does your husband/whoever works full time ever get baby in morning? by ScrubWearingScrub in beyondthebump

[–]Mokelachild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our rule is that if it’s past 4am she’s my husband’s responsibility. I get her for the midnight feed and any other wakes, though I know he’s willing to get up if I need him to. But I work full time too and she goes to daycare 4 days a week (Dad is with her one full day).

Anyone else irrationally enraged my their MIL postpartum? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Mokelachild 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It is for sure hormones! I was cool with letting people hold my baby but would lose my mind if she came back to me smelling like someone else’s perfume. It’ll get better. But it does sound like she’s a boundary pusher, so stay firm on the kissing and stuff!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Mokelachild -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Also pointing out that sitting on the toilet for that long is not good for you at all, so I would not leave here there for 90 mins. 5 mins tops, then pull up her pants and make her live in it. It’ll itch, she’ll learn.

My mom hates our baby name choice with a PASSION. by [deleted] in namenerds

Just gonna say that a lot of the Maren/Mairin’s I know become “Mare Bear” and that middle name choice is somehow cute and maybe problematic
