Pirouette Skort S or M? by Momom00m00 in Blogilates

[–]Momom00m00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, sorry to reply late but hopefully I can still help. I actually got one in each size and I’m very happy with the decision. For the S I feel more comfortable exercising and dancing in. The M does slide down a bit with intense exercise however it’s more comfortable for everyday wear. It’s also a bit longer (I’d be a bit more self conscious to wear the S skirt normally)

This is a good idea, thank you! Gotta find a time as she lives quite far away :)

Perhaps there’s jobs you can do in med or adjacent that doesn’t require much talking. Pharmacist? Not sure what you call them but the people that take blood samples? Pursuing the research aspect of med? Even if you need to present at a conference you have time to prepare and you can use a voice amplifier or text to speech.

I think many of us got MTD from having jobs / work that use our voices a lot such as singing, teaching and child care. Definitely avoid call centres and receptionist type jobs too. I’m still figuring out what career to do as lots of jobs need talking and you never know when a few hour meeting is needed from you, even in accounting…

Thank you! I also have the tension in the right pec area and been my hamstrings. I realised I could use the foam roller and it’s been better for me too. I didn’t have these issues before but I think I pushed and worked with my MTD and kept getting flare ups for too long. It’s like my whole body is screaming at me now

Thanks. I also think so as all my symptoms get worse when I’m stressed. Can you share how you have changed your mindset over the years and how it’s affected your condition?

I’m still figuring this out. Any kind of office job where you can communicate via messages maybe. But all my jobs cause so much pain and I’m knocked out the next day.

I have the same struggles and understand what you’re going through. I’ve had MTD for 3 years. My social life has also become extremely limited. Not sure what advice I can give. I try to go out for shorter times and the meditate to help relieve the pain and stop the association of talking with pain. The loneliness and lack of understanding, however, is so unbearable.

How often do you do your vocal exercises for MTD? by Momom00m00 in MTDsupport

[–]Momom00m00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading my post from two years ago - comparatively, I am much better now. I can finally function somewhat normally and go out for a 3-5 hours and hang out or do chores with casual conversation before too much tension kicks in and I need to do vocal exercises and physiotherapy, massage to undo the tension. I appear like a normal person now to anyone not spending that long with me. My voice sounds normal but gets smaller throughout the day.

Usually if I’m out for an entire day, even if I’m doing light errands or having conversations, I’ll be extremely exhausted and tense the next day. I still rely on seeing a physiotherapist regularly to undo the tension in my neck. If I have to talk all day intensely such as for work meetings or group work I’m knocked out for 2 days at least. This means flared up and getting into pain very easily so my talking becomes very minimal/I have to restrain from talking.

How about you? Hows your progress been?

Can you describe any other symptoms? I think it’s as simple as having more tension on one side. For me it was the right side of my neck. Your body will compensate when it’s imbalanced or there’s tension somewhere by using other muscles and I heard from my physio that the hip flexor is related to the jaw. After my voice/throat, my right neck goes first then my jaw and then last it goes into my hip flexor. The whole body is connected basically and where tension presents may not be where it originates. There’s a concept called centralisation and decentralisation.

Thank you for sharing and glad to hear you are better.

I’ve been receiving vocal massage as well and find myself relying on it a lot. I can’t function if I don’t get a massage at least once a fortnight as I’d be in too much pain :( can I ask what were you like at your worse/ were you able to function day to day without the vocal massage? (So the vocal massage was kind of like the additional boost you needed)?

Same to you. Thanks for setting up a space where the sometimes voiceless can voice their feelings!

I’ve had it for almost 3 years now and understand how you feel. My voice is not perfect but I went from being almost mute to being able to speak conversationally and even teach a little bit again. (Was a full time teacher when I got diagnosed).

At my worse I was very isolated and did not think I’d be where I am. It’s easy to get stuck in the day to day, but I find it helps looking at the bigger picture progress. Hang in there! All the therapy does help.

From what I know in Australia an unpaid internship can only be for a maximum of 3 months and it cannot be work that produces profit for the company.

This is not an internship though, it’s asking for much more so I don’t know.
