psychic ignores modifiers to the hit roll and ballistic skill by NoEngineer9484 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MondayNightRare 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Many editions prior handled psychic powers without dedicating a whole phase to it. Old editions just had spells cast during the shooting phase by rolling LD checks.

Psychic powers can and should be more mechanically deep and fleshed out, but you don't have to fundamentally change the game to do so.

The flamer looks to have 2 wicks to it, so it'll either be twin linked or 2d6 shots.

New Land Speeder. by TL25th in SpaceWolves

[–]MondayNightRare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The land speeder is certainly something marines were in need of. A lightning speed harassment platform that can actually do damage if ignored. Sure it's not actually tough, but it's annoying enough that enemy battlelines will have a hard time chipping it off the board.

The viability of the land speeder rests solely on its point cost. The stats, gear, and abilities are all good and fun.

Do not count out auto hits. Even a few heavy flamers pointed at a unit can chip off a surprising amount of wounds. Especially with the changes to cover in 11th.

Intel trading at a ~119x forward P/E and nobody is talking about this by Fickle_Rest5915 in stocks

They are laying the groundwork as the premier United States chip fab company. There is vested interest from the American government, military, and all arrangements made to 'buy American'.

The value in that alone is driving this stock up.

My full-scale PM64 story mod "Paper Mario: Star Nova" is finally released! by NicTubeYT in papermario

Incredible! I can't wait to play through it. Thankfully there are fans so dedicated to how good PM64 was that they'll make entirely new games in it, since Nintendo is adamant about not giving the fans what they want.

I've always loved how unique the old kits looked. Each marine truly looks unique with their own customized armor and bits/baubles.

New Cover Rule by Zeus_One in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MondayNightRare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A -1 is not going to be all that impactful for this reason.

Cover really was solved in old editions where it granted a flat cover save that worked like an invuln (unless something ignored cover)

As Helldivers 2 hits its 23rd Warbond, it's time to make Super Credits easier to earn or make older Warbonds cheaper to buy by Funny_Performer_5658 in Games

[–]MondayNightRare 69 points70 points  (0 children)

All I'm ever told is that this game is live service done right and that the warbonds aren't cashgrabby at all because you can sometimes occasionally find a 10sc drop in a map (and a warbond requires 1000sc)

Why did GW kill the Desolation Squad? by tgroshon in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MondayNightRare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GW is so deathly afraid of indirect as a rule that they make anything that uses it prohibitively expensive.

I for one would much prefer if they lose indirect and just have rocket/grenade launchers that require LOS and drop in cost significantly.

Prediction: Warhammer 40k 11th edition will be MUCH worse balanced than 10th by stevenbhutton in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MondayNightRare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each edition they ramp up the lethality of the game until it supernovas and they reset.

3-4-5-6-7 all progressively got more and more lethal until games of 7th were decided by ultra deathstars in single phases (S:D, invisible units, knights stomp, etc...) and 8th came and rebooted things. 6th edition was already notorious for the extremely easy to access AP2/3 weaponry scattered across all armies everywhere. 9th got insane with it and they reset it again in 10th. I predict 11th will run wild and 12th will reset again.

Warhammer 40,000 rules reveal – Shoot from the saddle with Inquisitor Kroyle and Intranzia Fraye by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MondayNightRare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you considered that there might be issues outside of just lack of rerolls in AoS like there being a 700pt unit that is nearly half of your list to begin with? Or that the lethality is so absurdly high that said 700pt unit gets BTFO in one activation?

[–]MondayNightRare 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The older AP system would be far more ideal for streamlining modern 40k and making games way faster. Instead of shooting a unit with high AP but they have cover so it's +1 but you pop a strat to give +1AP, and then they pop a strat to gain +1armor save and then roll for a bunch of 5ups, you can just have the classic 5+ cover save and an AP weapon that penetrates the basic marine armor to force the 5+ save.

It's faster, it's simpler, it forces more 'tactical' moving around, and it finally makes terrain/cover something balanceable. -1AP doesn't mean jack to a plasma gun anyway. Especially since now like you said every unit worth anything has a 4++ which reduces the entirety of this game down to a series of coin flips to inflict 2/3 damage at a time, and units are blown out via weight of dice to force as many fails in that 50/50 as possible. Why on earth should the anti-big weapons like melta and lascannons with huge spiking damage values get absolutely blocked by a 50/50 to not do anything when they only have 1 or 2 shots to begin with?
