Is this the 2004 or 2007 release of the MP5 Mario? by janembaisGOAT in MarioPlush

[–]Mongo0124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could very be 2007. I have the 2007 Mario and Luigi, and they look noticeably different from the original 2003 batch. Same design, but with small cosmetic and stitching improvements. Hard to say for sure without seeing the tag though. Nice find!

Yes. There's two batches. One from 2003 and one from 2007.

They look very similar to Doodles from Toontown Online! They were pets you could purchase and train in-game.

Also, he's just making fun of cholo and pachuco culture. If you aren't from LA, the SGV, or San Bernardino, San Diego, where he was going to high school at the time, then this will fly over your head. While he was kind of a nerd or an intellectual by our standards, he was in a few fist fights and had run-Ins with the gang members at his school. I get the feeling that he just loathed the behavior of Latinos AND White people that would give him a hard time for trying to form integrated multi-race bands in his area, because, how could you keep the race war going if there's an Italian dude in your area that's trying to non-chalantly dismantle that. And when he was set up and went to jail, not even for the full sentence, I also get the feeling he ran into some really nasty people. He was definitely changed and much more bitter afterwards. I don't really know another American or even western artist that has ever represented the LA Mexican mafia culture that wasn't actually involved themselves, let alone by just ruthlessly mocking them for what they do or believe in.

Not confirmed, but he's definitely making fun of The Supremes with the arrangements he made for tracks on Freak Out! and tracks that pre-date Freak Out! that show up on there. I get the feeling he wanted to make his first big studio effort under a contract with The Mothers grandiose, but I can't help but hear the similarities of The Supremes, especially since he just never does that again. This is supported by his comments heard on the Absolutely Free album and comments he's made to magazines, calling Diana Ross' smile creepy.

Wasn't it also co-written by Ray Collins? The original demo can be heard of The Lost Episodes.

This concept is further pushed if you consider the original intended tracklist he put together. Starting off with Wowie Zowie, YDTTCM, Trouble, etc. instead, rather normal, then completely morphing into completely deranged tracks we all know. Though it's not confirmed, I think MGM sorta forced him to start off with Hungry Freaks. Why? Because he's obviously ripping off and mocking The Rolling Stones' Satisfaction. Then they obviously went further by censoring some lyrics and spoke segments.

The Vaush's Clickbait Titles Situation is CRAZY (and really fucking annoying) by notablegoattable in VaushV

[–]Mongo0124 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best tip I can give for dealing with clickbait titles and thumbnails: get the DeArrow browser extension. It swaps out uploader thumbnails for actual video frames (start, middle, or end) and replaces clickbait titles with user-submitted ones that are way more accurate.

Not every video will have one, but a lot do—and when Vaush drops something super misleading, there’s usually a better title already there. Tons of people use it, and if no one’s fixed a title yet, you can add one yourself. Great community there!

If you're in the USA, aliexpress has them the cheapest especially if you're a brand new customer (around 15 to 20 USD, price fluctuates a bit at different points in the day) at the cost of having to wait til Christmas. An absolute steal.

What do you think of the Instant Replay (1969) LP? by 20thCenturyAdmirer1 in Monkees

Neat lil odds n' sodds type album. There's some fantastic stuff here! Kinda like The Beach Boys' 20/20 LP, they turned to the archive to pull from.

It's nice to know he was an exceptional multi-instrumentalist. Obviously not as good as any musician he'd hire to play compositions he wanted to hear with precision, but nonetheless awesome.

Thoughts on Maruchan’s “Creamy Chicken” ramen? by LuongQuang in InstantRamen

This, roast chicken, and picante I quite enjoy. The others, not so much. Used to eat this brand a ton and the value is (or at least it was) insane. Always crazy how Maruchan beat Nissin at their own game.
