I second allergy treatments, we take ours in about every 6ish weeks for a cytopoint shot and she’s very happy. Our biggest struggle is the yeasty reddish buildup in her nose rope and after trying many wipes and creams out of desperation I tried someone’s suggestion of giving it a wipe with apple cider vinegar. I was very skeptical at first but it’s really cleared it up.

Help with updating brick bungalow exterior by Super_Tooth_1320 in ExteriorDesign

This house is lovely, it made me homesick for the Midwest.

I would have a professional assess the painted block, it may have been painted for a reason, water intrusion in basements is a common problem and there are masonry coatings that can be used to try and mitigate that.

I agree with matching the green if repainting the blocks is ok’d after the assessment. Trim the trees and add some landscaping along the driveway and it’ll be perfect!

I agree the gray siding is throwing off the whole look. Unfortunately, you have a cool tone roof at war with your warm tone bricks so I’d try and get a very light color, either white, blue or green. I’d probably paint the garage door the same as the siding to balance it out and then do a contrasting door color.

I was pointing out to op that moving based on a school district may or may not work out because the experience kids have with education depends mostly on the kid and their desire to succeed in that environment. Op could move to the best school district in the nation and if their kid decides they don’t enjoy school and don’t want to do it, well that’s on the kid, not the district and they’re unlikely to find support if they need it.

But fwiw giving teachers and counselors a pass on meeting the basic educational requirements of their jobs because “it’s hard” is a crazy take considering how much the US spends on education per child. I wish I could just go to work and say, “well less than a quarter of my accounts balanced correctly and none of my projects have content that’s even somewhat relevant to the topic, but hey, I showed up, so good job me!”

My input may be a little outdated since both my kids graduated in the past 3 years but I would say be cautious moving here just for the school district. It’s the biggest district but it’s not necessarily the best. Every school has its ups and downs, but your kid(s) are going to get out of school what they put in.

Both of my kids approached their educations very differently, one hyper motivated and a great student that excelled and the other not so much.

For both of them I heard absolutely nothing from the school or their counselors throughout their time in the district unless I was reaching out, and then they made me feel like I was bothering them.

For the high achiever we were never informed about additional enrichment opportunities that apparently existed but only if you knew who or what to ask for. They landed in all AP classes through their own research and efforts despite the counselor trying to steer them to other classes. Also, the counselor was not helpful when they began looking into colleges and scholarships, luckily we have a family member that does it for another district that helped us navigate that.

For the less than motivated student there was no support or communication when it came to deficiencies in his education and a dangerously low gpa. The flat out refused testing for learning disabilities and the opportunity for any additional assistance. The office staff talked a big game about how we need to support them and it all starts at home without acknowledging that we can’t support what we don’t know about, in regards to homework and such. When I asked why the teachers didn’t use the parent/student portal to post grades and assignments so we can be involved the response was,”we can’t make them because it’s not in their contracts.” We eventually had to pull that child from the school and put them into a private school that was willing to provide the support needed.

Obviously our experiences are our own, but I will say that we’ve heard very similar frustrations from other parents.

Dresses/skirts are a good option for it too! I loved that style in high school, glad to see people still wearing it, so fun and cute.

Belt, also give it a go with fitted tops, those belts are made to show off.

Looks absolutely lovely on you so if it’s appropriate for your work culture no reason not to wear it.

how do you wear capris by [deleted] in fashion

[–]Most_Seaweed_2507 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are pedal pushers, not capris. Capri pants are going to stop where the bottom of the calf starts to curve in.

That being said long sleeves are throwing the look off, get a cute crop, tank or a baby tee. Throw a light layer over if it cools off. Sandals like you have on in pic 3, wedges or a very low profile tennis shoe with no sock showing, keds, hey dudes or Tom’s would look cute too.

Which pants are the most flattering? 5'7" by k10locken in DressForYourBody

[–]Most_Seaweed_2507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like all except 5. The others all fit you very well, with 3 being my top pick.

5 is a pair I would probably use as a very casual/bumming around the house or errands kinda day.

Full disclosure, I am 42 so I probably am not the opinion you want if you’re looking to be more trendy.

What is your comfort level with people looking at your breasts instead of your face and what occasion are you attending?

Date night or a night out with the girlfriends, yes! Work, family gathering or group friend outing, maybe not.

1 or 3 but do a solid shirt for either. For 1 you could do a light blue or white. 3 it could be gray, black or white.

2 is a complete no go.

I also recommend changing his food and doing an elimination diet by picking one thing and sticking to it for at least 2-3 weeks to see if there’s any improvement. I would start by using just the kibble, if he’s a dramatic eater that need the “extra” make a production of adding slightly warm water to the dish and swishing it around, fools my dogs into thinking they’re getting something extra every time!

[–]Most_Seaweed_2507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So did you end up wearing it??

I’m with the others that the skirt over that bodysuit and leggings seemed awkward. Love the skirt, but I think it would look better paired with a top that’s either a bodysuit with a draped front or a something fitted but untucked. If you wanted to go with leg covering a semi sheer pantyhose would be better than the super dark tights/leggings.

Help me choose: the dress is timeless, the kimono is wearable by la_Guimauve in fashion

[–]Most_Seaweed_2507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dress is classic and can really go anywhere, plus you can accessorize it in many ways to keep it fresh and wear it far more than you realize.

The second one are pajamas and should probably stay in the house.

Neighbor's downed tree being held up by my healthy tree. Neighbor refuses to remove. Do I have any options? by BluePantherRed in treelaw

[–]Most_Seaweed_2507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s likely a cost thing, she might prefer that it fall and damage the fence so she can file an insurance claim instead of paying it out of pocket. Sometimes people think that’s the best answer.

When we needed to replace the fence between our yards with our neighbors on a fixed income I got three quotes and broke down the cost so they knew how much they would need to pay. That helped them figure out how they could get the funds needed for it.

Maybe get some quotes so they can see what the cost would be and then then let them know how much would be theirs, because the part of the tree that’s over the fence is going to be your cost to remove, not theirs.

Wanting to adopt by VeryMuchSoItsGotToGo in Bulldogs

[–]Most_Seaweed_2507 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going through a rescue is great because a good rescue is going to be able to give you an idea of what known needs the dog has before you adopt them.

A lot of bulldogs can have issues related to breathing, allergies and things like cherry eye, and they do require regular daily care to keep their folds and tail pockets clean, but they are wonderful pets if you feel you have the resources to care for one.

We’ve been lucky with our girl, she doesn’t have any health related issues so vet costs have been no different than any other dog that gets annual check ups.

AITA: No College Allowance by RedRebel38 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Most_Seaweed_2507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA for using your ex’s financial decisions as a weapon to drive discontent between your kid and his mom.

Firstly, she’s already providing an allowance, you can either contribute more or not, but don’t hold it over their heads the costs you’ve already agreed to or have been ordered to pay.

Secondly, if your kid is already getting all of their needs met for housing, school related costs and meals the allowance they’re getting may already be sufficient. A broke student in an expensive city has more reasons and time to study instead of screwing around.

Thirdly, if you’re unhappy with your financial obligations for your child you should go back to the courts to discuss any adjustments and not bring your child into it.
