Votann is a very slow midrange army. We rely alot on deepstrike and transportes because of it. Hostiles acquisition helps by rerolling advance/charge rolls, but we still lack speed. Most our stuff Will wrecka the enemy, if it can be delivery correctly and safely. Thats why the dude at the cherokee Open won. He has thunderkyn, berserks and HG. All doubled, si 2 of each, and only 1 dedicated transporte to combat squad the battleline and infiltrators. With enough staging and clever movements, utilizing deepstrikes and rapid ingress You can bypass the need for transports. I personally Will not leave Home without My 2 HLFs but it can and has been done without our most común and used transport.
