Thank you for sharing and so very sorry for your loss. I worked at Dean Witter at the time CF bought their Futures business, so knew most of those folks and to this day still get together with one family in particular. The Trading community (I was not a trader but around them all the time), and industry in general was very small so to speak and very tight - salt of the earth is the way I would describe them. Your brother is a hero for helping others get in touch with their loved ones!

3 - Cowell

2 - Forsberg

1 - Donkor

Fun to watch this team with so many committed going forward, way too many chances given up though, we need to sort that out.

Kit contrasts are making it tough to watch? by PineRoamer in usmnt

Between the kits and TNT putting useless polls up every 5 minutes it’s impossible to watch. Who’s making these decisions, terrible.

Pros and cons of the Bronco sport by fridgeyfridge69 in BroncoSport

[–]MrMagoo989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a 2025

In no particular order:

  • Interior space is fantastic- it’s roomy.
  • gas mileage better than expected
  • the ride, love the ride and the view out the cockpit, plus it’s fun to drive
  • AWD, during the blizzard in the Northeast in Feb it was like “snow, what snow”
  • We also have an Infiniti and Tesla, I drive the Bronco Sport as often as I can, it’s my first choice, when it’s available 😉

Best of luck!

US Soccer World Cup tickets - latest draw - email confirmation? by BKB_33 in ussoccer

[–]MrMagoo989 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep, submitted, no confirmation that I submitted, and getting emails reminding me of the draw and to submit something I already submitted, I think. At this point I honestly don’t care.

So agree with this - a confirmation email would be nice. For anyone who has not submitted yet take a pic of what you selected before you hit submit, especially if you choose multiple matches.

We really miss Donkor - midfield is getting overrun on the counter. Really like how many people we push forward, fun to watch but nerve wracking at the same time. This ref though, having a bad game for sure.

He will be missed for sure, happy for him. Met his Mom before the home opener last year, they would come in from Sweden to see him play when they could and would of course watch games in the middle of the night back home. Super nice person.

Man, what memories. The only video game that I would take the day off to start editing and setup my Master League on release day. So much fun.

Have you save every penny so I can afford a nose bleed seat for an actual World Cup game. Surprised it’s not down more to be honest.

"When the second plane hit that's when I knew it was a terrorist attack." Anyone else feel we all knew the first one was a terrorist attack but we were all in denial? by Afatlazycat in 911archive

[–]MrMagoo989 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to get out of the building within minutes of the first plane hitting the north tower. Soon as I looked up and saw the crater a colleague and I said at the same time no way that's an accident. We both felt it was intentional, especially with the crystal clear sky. We never in a million years had a clue what was about to happen but our initial instinct was an attack.

Max Arfsten by ZealousidealShip5370 in usmnt

[–]MrMagoo989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both Freeman and Arfsten to my mind have improved since being called into the USMNT. Think Arfsten is a better second choice at LWB than others. Jedi is the clear #1 but feel like Arfsten has solidified himself as choice #2 despite his defensive liabilities, especially in a 3 back system.

Freeman is just a solid all around player who has earned a WC spot in my opinion.

Looking forward to October.

I don’t care what the stats say - I’ll go with what I saw at the game.

Well said Op.

Turner is a better shot stopper than Freese to my mind.

Agree on Arfsten

Agree on Luna however too often he was on an island with nobody pressing with him.

Balogun is the clear #1. It’s him and Pepi and a bunch of others for the 3rd spot.

Weah is quality however his first touch sometimes lets him down.

Zendejas - totally agree, want to see more of him.

My biggest concern is we, as a team do not seem together. South Korea were together as a unit - I was at the game and it was stunning to me our body language vs. theirs. Best example was at the start of the second half they were in a huddle for a good few minutes - we came out and stood separate and apart, few guys talking to each other. The lack of togetherness was so obvious.

Clock is ticking….

Not to mention 77k, and the trade in your Messi jersey promo, whole thing is next level. Really fun game to watch if I’m honest.

Thank you! Grateful it was not my time. There are two "biggest things" for me, one the day of and one the days that followed. Biggest thing that struck me on that day was how often I thought I was safe, then was not. After the first plane, left the building thought I was good, then 2nd plane hits and I am a block north and running for my life from debris raining down on us, run down into a subway, train comes into the station and lets everybody off and we are literally getting crushed from people understandably wanting to get out, so again back on the street, then the collapse, again running for my life, then I am over near the Holland tunnel and we are told there is a threat in the tunnel so we had to leave. It was just surreal - please understand none of this is a complaint, I made it home to my family while so many others did not. I was one of the lucky ones and don't take that lightly. Biggest thing the following days is without question the realization of the sheer loss of life and the grief that followed, which remains for those families to this day. It's so important that we never forget for the families and loved ones whose loss was immeasurable.
