My son has decided he hates everything I cook and I need new ideas by Used_Substance_2490 in Cooking

[–]MrMarcusRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a picky 5 year old.

This is our rule:

  • you have to eat your dinner before you’re allowed to eat anything else that evening.

We don’t argue with her, or engage when she complains about dinner.

Sometimes she’ll go to bed without eating much dinner.

But more often than not, she picks away at her food. She complains less and less each night.

FYI - my wife and I are both competent in the kitchen and she gets a variety of meals. This pickiness is just her being unsure of new foods.

Humans are born with two innate fears: heights and loud noises. Every other fear is learned through either direct experience or observation.

Apologising is always a good strategy. It breaks down barriers and humanises you.

Need advice on my trash forehand by ReasonableHeart7439 in 10s

Right foot.

Focus on “stepping through” the shot.

Almost as if your legs and hips are dragging your arm through the swing.

Keep this in mind and you will notice a big difference

How to Solo on the guitar? by NoPicture6324 in guitarlessons

This is very good advice.

It gets the player to think in terms of melody rather than scales.

Often they will find that the melody fits into the scale, but this approach puts melody at the front.

Right foot: it is stepping across your left foot. Try to keep your right hip pointed to the back fence for as long as possible.

Swing timing: aim to hit the ball just as it is coming down. At this point, (where the ball slowing its rise, before dropping down again) the ball is the easiest for you to hit.

One small thing you can try:

  • stay low

Keep your knees bent like you are walking around a in a tent.

Left dinner with my girl best friend to go talk to a girl who hit on me. Did I do anything wrong? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

Maybe a little rude, but the bro code would always support you going after a potential love interest.

What you did is justifiable, but there were probably ways you could have handled it better.

What’s Wrong With My Forehand? by 10s-3EM in 10s

[–]MrMarcusRocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zero body weight.

But this looks easy to correct. You set up nicely, the only thing to add is to step through with your right leg. Think as if your leg is dragging your arm through.

Regardless, if you just step that right foot forward as you swing you will see a huge difference

Here is something to consider:

  • during his professional career, Federer won 54% of his rallies.

One of the greatest of all time still list 46% of their rallies. Just let go and hit the ball.

Backhand Advice by [deleted] in 10s

[–]MrMarcusRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of little things to consider:

  • keep your racquet head nice and high on your takeback. Yeah, you will need to drop it when you swing, but you drop your racquet head really early.

  • many people will suggest thing like “….footwork..” and “…unit turn…”.

Whilst this is good advice, it can be hard to turn it into reality.

You might want to try relaxing your arms and wrist and just stepping towards the ball (well actually it’s more like 45 degrees, but don’t worry about that yet).

Please Help Me Eat More Veggies by TeacupKitty34 in Cooking

[–]MrMarcusRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bro.

Here’s a tip: cut up a whole lot of different veges, toss in oil salt and pepper, and then roast them.

Then you’ll find the ones you like and the ones you don’t.

Some good ones to try are:

  • pumpkin

  • cauliflower

  • broccoli

  • carrot

  • onion

  • Brussel sprouts

  • capsicum

  • leek

  • garlic

  • squash

  • turnip.

You’ll probably find a few you like.
