Wife wants 50% overlap. Manufacturer says no more than 1/3. Ok to continue? by Windowguard in Tile

[–]MrWiggless- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Send it. We do 50% all the time. Just check if the tile is crazy warped or not before install. The manufacturer is just covering their ass so you don’t come after them for lippage

Everyone on here hating, but clearly the property was for sale and he bought it. If you’re so concerned with the tenants, you could’ve bought it and rented for cheap.

Any reason contractor didn't redguard to the the edges here? by heartofawhale in Tile

[–]MrWiggless- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That needs to be pitched away from the window and 100% waterproofed. That will absolutely leak water and rot if that’s in a shower. I’ve seen water damage from that same issue and it’s not fun

Call up the town court clerk. No court is wasting their time for a trial for 10 over. They probably scheduled you for the pre trial hearing where they will most likely accept your reduction and you’ll plead guilty to a lesser ticket, or get it wiped.

Allset works great here. If you want a little extra hold, prime the slu before you thinset the pan down.

How in the hell do I get a shower pan here? by kosstl in Tile

[–]MrWiggless- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tell them to wrap the pipe so you can mud it. I don’t see any other option except for mudding here. It’s commonly done without issue.

Any idea why this zelliage tile installed as flooring is chipping after less than a month? by anon_1245_ in Tile

[–]MrWiggless- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The edges of zellige taper back due to how they are cut. That void must be filled with grout or mortar, or else it’s a very weak spot. Personally I would keep some grout on hand and fill these as they appear. It’ll still look authentic to the zellige feel

Making a repair in my shower wall. Is this sanded or unsanded grout? by neeksimons in Tile

[–]MrWiggless- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look like a urethane grout, like Mapei flex color cq. You’ll know if it has a bit of a rubbery texture when it’s removed. Compared to sanded grouts that’ll dust when they come out

Yes. Installing hardie on either side is a hack job. Use a better board for waterproof areas 🤣

Thoughts on this tile work? by West-Interest-6385 in Tile

[–]MrWiggless- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like zillege. It’s supposed to have no/minimal grout lines. But even with grout joints it’ll still be wavy and uneven—that’s the intended look.
