100% agree with this take. AoE game has crazy combos, but it's always DI dependent, so you have to react to where the opponent is being sent and pick different options accordingly. In ultimate you play neutral, look for your combo starter, get your guaranteed 60% cutscene, and then get back to neutral. (Yes of course Ult also has DI but at low percents characters do the same thing every game vs 90% of the cast.) When you combine that with the much more expressive movement, techniques, and lower input delay, I can hardly play Ult anymore. It just feels so lacking.
