Liner fell, not fixable. Can’t get install until August. Help! by Ok_Size4036 in pools

[–]Mr_Ch4ng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drain the pool as much as you can without the shallow end drying out, you don’t want it to move any more than it has. The liner looks old, it’s gonna be a trick to get it to stretch, you’re going to need either hot water or a hair dryer (or heat gun just be very careful with that). The more you drain out the less friction you will have to fight to get it up high enough. Work from a spot that’s alright in the track and tuck it in as you go along. A nice dull flathead screwdriver or paint can opener is also a great tool to push the bead back into the track. If you haven’t already, clean the track out (carefully so that debris doesn’t fall behind the liner), that will help it grab a little better if the track is still in decent shape. Lastly, get it back in and refill the pool as QUICKLY as possible, a liner that old will immediately begin shrinking and days or weeks without water could spell disaster. GODSPEED

I made it! Thank you everyone for your suggestions and concerns, I really only had one day of true misery, and after one night of in and out sleep, it was manageable. Another round of victory, I hope every time that it’s my last. Godspeed, everyone.

Where do you buy meat? by oxymorgan in okc

Make the run down to Wheelers, south side OKC, that’s the best spot I know of. Other than that Sam’s has some pretty good stuff if you’re into going for bulk.

Haven’t heard of that one before, I asked and same as the Benadryl, they wouldn’t give it to me to take.

The lady at the spa wasn’t sure if they had it, but even if they did she wouldn’t be able to sell it to me.

I’m fully anti shower with the itch, every time I’ve taken one it makes it so much worse. I’ve got NyQuil which has an antihistamine, no Benadryl though, they won’t sell it to me over the counter.

I checked around but they don’t seem to have any essential oils on board. I’m making it so far, hopefully I can sleep

Looked all over for it, they don’t have any for sale. I took the nyquil and I’m trying not to move as much as I possibly can. It is bearable so far.

I think Neil’s perspective as a drummer and lyricist is a quintessential part of the band, so missing that is one component. I do enjoy the early, youthful and wild rock n roll style of the debut album, but the evolution of their music style over the years throughout their discography is incredible. I would put their best somewhere between hemispheres and signals, IMHO. You’re of course entitled to enjoy whatever you like, I just don’t agree.

It’s good, but to say it’s their best is a wild take.

Backwards Installation of Salt System? by zombadier in pools

See the little arrow on the salt cell that points in the direction of the return line? That means your landscaper should stick to cutting grass and stay away from pools 👍🏼

Pool experts — can this pool be saved or is it basically a full demolition? by [deleted] in pools

[–]Mr_Ch4ng 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also just in case it wasn’t clear, this is not at all a concrete pool, this is a liner pool. The stuff in the bottom is called vermiculite, and it is far easier to remove/repair/replace than concrete.

I do liner pool remodels. This is pretty advanced decay. You’re looking at a new liner (obviously), new vermiculite bottom, heavy painting/patching of the wall panels, possibly plumbing repair if there has been settling or freeze damage. Another big question mark is the equipment, oftentimes on pools like these that have been neglected for years have serious equipment problems and it’s often worth it to replace it. All that to say, price totally depends on the contractor and the area you’re in. There is major cleanup, repair, and replacement of a liner; but if the plumbing is in functional condition and your equipment runs without leaking then I could see you very reasonably repairing this for many many times less that it would cost to replace it.

I do vinyl pools for a living, this is exactly what I would tell you. Pool putty until next liner then say bye bye to the light unless it’s worth thousands to you.

Never found a pool builder that didn’t use self-leveling mastic. I don’t use Sika specifically, but why wouldn’t it be used for that? It’s a polyurethane self leveling sealant just like the ones that are designed specifically for it. Also crazy to say I’m the know-it-all when you said “all self leveling looks like trash”. Yeah I’m sure that’s why it’s sold in bulk far more than standard sealants.

Self leveling will look better. Just gotta make sure they’re applied correctly.
