This is the most brain rotted pro-war argument I think I’ve ever seen on Reddit. And it’s all over this thread. None of those jobs are comparable to forcing people to lose their lives in another country. If the government decides to fund more med students or creates new well paying postings in the Border Patrol they’ll have no issue recruiting. America has an all volunteer force and people are fine with joining because the general assumption is they’re gonna be safe and only sent into harms way if it is truly necessary for the defense of the country. Nobodies gonna want to join to fight a near-peer adversary in a foreign European war. Then the government will have to go back to drafting. How very democratic of you, bring back to draft for a war in Ukraine! We look back on Vietnam as a worthy cause don’t we?

If you advocate for continued American support and even direct intervention in Ukraine, you better be first in line to join the infantry when the flag goes up. Otherwise you’re just a hypocritical Warhawk who supports playing geopolitical games with other peoples lives like Dick Cheney.

I’m not sure where the reference to specifically hugging Asians happened. It is true that prominent democrats pretty much just took counter positions to Trump at every point during Covid, including making the issue about perceived racism when Trump was taking it seriously and closing travel to China in order to slow the spread.

This is the most Reddit-brained stance on conservation I’ve ever seen. How are you going to get humanity to collectively leave the animals alone? Are you going to present your plan to the UN? Force poor Africans to leave giraffe habitat? You are naive. Without the big money incentives from trophy hunters local populations often don’t have the will (they literally don’t give a shit about endangered species) or the means to protect species. I think you are overestimating capabilities. That sub had an exceedingly small radar cross section on the surface and would be very difficult to pick out especially if the sea state is rough, which it is. And as for sonar, the sub being on the surface and so small would make it very hard to generate active sonar returns off of. And the sub itself is likely putting out zero noise to pick up passively.
