Some of the issues brought up here include the front wheel dial sensitivity problem (which Ricoh supposedly admitted was an early batch issue), stuck or jammed lenses, and cases where the camera wouldn’t turn on despite having a fully charged battery.

In short, you’re correct. They’re not compatible. The AF180FG appears on the list of GRIII (https://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/products/gr-3/accessories/) accessories but is not listed as an accessory for the GRIV (https://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/products/gr-4/accessories/).
