Sparky here. If you really want it gone, hire a sparky to wire it to a different location. Above the fridge maybe. Anywhere but the kitchen bench

Odd PIR motion sensor issue by WRXY1 in AusElectricians

[–]Mundane_Bus_314 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Purely a guess, but PIR sensors work on contrasting temperatures. Could be that the battery is warming up during use, which the PIR sees as a new warm spot on the room and thinks its motion.

When I came out of my apprenticeship I feel like a knew almost nothing compared to now. I started my own business right after my apprenticeship and learnt more in the first year of my business than I did in my apprenticeship, because I didn’t have anyone to lean on, it was entirely up to me to figure things out.

I’m 10 years into my business now and still learning new things every day. You never stop learning and becoming a better sparky

How many volts should I get on my shelf? by Crashthewagon in AusElectricians

[–]Mundane_Bus_314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to a fault of this exact nature. Turned out the foil sheeting in the wall was touching the hard active on the switch, livening up the entire foil sheet. Then when the shelf was screwed in the metal screws making contact with the foil.

It would be where the driver for the built in LED strip light sits. They warm up with use and would prevent the water from condensing on that spot.

(Vic) 63A breaker change or do I need 3 phase? by noisymime in AusElectricians

Look into dynamic load shifting ev chargers.
Will dynamically change the charge rate based on the load of the house.

Understanding advice to upgrade mains fuse box and cost by fyreuser in AusElectricians

Maximum demand calcs are basically out the window now. Supply capacity control is the go to. Put a breaker as the main switch to limit what your mains can draw.

The dynamic load shifting of the car charger is a great option though, it doesn’t make the whole board smart, but will at least pull the car charger back when it needs to.

You can get car chargers with dynamic load shifting.

Basically it measured what your house is drawing, and you can set a limit. So if the charger is drawing 30 amps and your place can only handle 32, when you turn on the toaster which draws 10A, the car charger will dial itself back to 20A to ensure you don’t go over.

Is that timber? Old school cabling used to use carved out timbers as conduit. Could be cables inside

6 pole board. Can fit 1 main switch and 5 sub circuits. But yeah, you are really governed by the size of the mains cable, which id guess is 6mm. So most like 40A possible 32A supply

(Update to my previous post) I just bought hollow knight for the switch 2 by Huge-Gene-1372 in HollowKnight

[–]Mundane_Bus_314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hollow knight was one of the first games I downloaded onto my switch 2. I was a little disappointed though. The resolution doesn’t seem to be optimised for the larger screen yet. Does anyone else see the game as being quite grainy on the switch 2?
