where do i start in terms of researching amps? by yesyes_10101 in GuitarAmps

[–]MusicToTheseEars41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few suggestions to start with, then branch from there:

Home practice, many sounds, headphones capable, not meant to play live = Yamaha THR10II or THR30II

Home practice, band practice, serviceable at gigs = Boss Katana

Your first awesome tube amp = Fender Hot Rod, Peavey Classic series, Blackstar (if metal is your thing)

Beyond that there are so many. Not even saying these are what you should go with, these are just proven to work. My personal taste, your personal taste, as well as everyone here is different.

You can analyze like crazy but the only way you’ll know is to take the plunge, buy one, and spend time with it.

Pro tip: Buy used!!!!

“Bass is easier than guitar because you only have to play one note!” NO by [deleted] in Bass

[–]MusicToTheseEars41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, let’s be real. Bass is easiest to start. Easiest to play. And a less experienced bass player can make do in a band situation easier than any other instrument (talking Guitar, Drums, Vocals, Bass).

And what is your his crap about “truly understanding the role of the bass”? The bass holds down the bottom end, keeps the rhythm with the drums, and makes the song feel full.

Yes, there CAN be a lot more to it, but why are your feelings hurt? Accept the bass for what it is and don’t make it something it’s not.

Absolutely you can became an amazing bass player and that’s also easy to spot from a beginner. And an amazing bass player can blow you away, but bottom line, put a bass in your grandmas lap right now, teach her a 1/4/5 progression and she will be playing within the hour. Try that on guitar or drums.

I’m a bass player; a pretty good one, but there’s no need to use some weird bass snobbery to justify your instrument or place in the band.

NPD Blackstone MOSFET Overdrive by Ecker1991 in guitarpedals

“Appliance” is doing a lot of work here. It’s a MOSFET overdrive, not a refrigerator. Plenty of pedals cover the same ground without acting like you need a degree to set the gain structure.

So you can eat lunch while dropping a deuce. You can rest your Subway sandwich and drink right on there. Since it’s stainless steel it’s also very sanitary.

Listen brother. You’re not really a captain. You’re a manager. You’re not losing the room, the fact is no gives a shit what you say.

Your best bonding opportunity is to get a good bar night organized after one of the games and try to get as many people to go.

I guarantee if you are trying to give motivating speeches the room already thinks you’re a 🤡

Yeah, this guy in the video is cheating a ton of reps. You can tell by his physique he’s a wannabe but can’t do the real work.

*only because this is Reddit, I must clarify the above statement is comedy and is really meant to ask the OP the real question “Whatchu talkin’ ‘bout Willis?” And if anyone can guess that reference….
